Undoubtedly,, definitely, The word “ Impossible “ doesn’t exist in the vocabulary of the Master Craftsman.

In the earthquake zone of Japan and China there are many temples and large wooden structures which have no nails or connectors and are many hundreds of years old. Special loose fit joinery allows the buildings to survive the worst quakes. Their vulnerability is fire.

This isn’t a very strong joint it may look pretty if that’s what you’re going for but a dovetail is a much better option.

The craftsman isn't in the name on the side of the tool. It's in the person holding the tool ❣️

Will this be worth it strength wise to compare with screws? It seems neat but kinda hard to do

A great example of how woodworking was done centuries ago. Today, you'd have to enjoy the process as much as the results.

Beautifully done, and that chisel looks very sharp, the joints would be used more for cabinet making, really enjoyed your video, thankyou.

Very skilful but you are reinventing the wheel a mortise and tenon with a dowel inserted in it will never come apart.
@1man1guitarletsgoАй бұрын
These people only post their videos for clicks. it doesn't matter how wrong they are, as long as the title draws viewers in. To add to your comment, the through-hole for the dowel should be set back slightly on the tenon, so that the dowel (or peg) pulls the joint really tight. A pegged mortise and tenon doesn't even need glue.

Just another dumb thing. It's like spending $100 on a toothpick. Wasteful. Dumb. No great result. Not even really cool. Just waste and dumb.

Sometimes there’s a decent reason you don’t see something often. That’s a lot of work for something aesthetically pleasing but structurally unsound.

It looks interesting, but is utterly useless as a woodwork joint.

It’s a beautiful joint and the wood was lovely. However. All that hard chiselling work making the joint very expensive to create. Why wasn’t a router and template used? An accurate male and female template, would greatly reduce the time taken. Also the mortised part could be subjected to stress along the wood grain, in time compromising the construction.
