Neat. I'm no expert in assembly or low level CPU architecture design either, but the reason this happens in layman's terms is due to a particular CPU instruction called "cmpxchg8b" - essentially this instruction is used to compare a register with an 8-byte value in memory, but calling this instruction with a second register and a lock prefix causes the system to hang entirely when it is executing. In simpler terms, we are just passing in an invalid parameter to an instruction, and due to the lock prefix before that instruction, the CPU won't just throw an exception and will instead jam itself up and stop working until a cold reboot

You can still download it manually, and the installed version works for me. I see PPA as a step in the direction Firefox is following, similar to Chrome. Use LibreWolf, Mullvad Browser or something like that instead.

Google Chrome is a bunch of spyware and malware, and has been for several years now. I stopped using it ever since I discovered it's scanning my whole harddrive for "software that can interfere with the user experience".... get outta here with that BS Google! I fixed it temporarily by removing read and write access from the scanning process.

brave is chromium, the second brave updates to the latest chromium (browser engine name) version, the changes to chrome, applies to brave as well. Switch to LibreWolf, it's the Brave equivalent of Firefox (Browser engine is called "Quantum"), which is not within the google ecosystem, whatsoever, and thus, not subject to google's whims. :)

Manifest v3 greatly restricts what an extension can do compared to v2 which limits an extension's ability to block ads.

A nice and comprehensive tutorial, thank you! But you should have talked more about the partitioning. Most beginners do not have a separate SSD/HDD to install Linux on. So they want to install it along Windows normally. Many distros offer it, but not all of them.

the laptop is 100% functional, its a bit old but i had to remove the CMOS battery (that was leaking acid everywhere, I cleaned it up with isopropyl alcohol before it could attack the PCB) max RAM is supports: 144MB (128MB stick + 16MB internal)

yes, the minimum ram for windows xp is 64MB and i did briefly install it on the laptop but the specs were not good and it crawled. the processor is a pentium 1 running at 133MHz which is not much, it has a 2GB hard drive (yes, 2GB) and internal graphics so bad you could see the screen refresh (yes, even with the drivers). i installed windows 98 se and its a lot more bearable

@@thes_real Sure, with this kind of CPU Win 98 makes more sense. But if it was the grade of Pentium 3, 144 MB ram would be enough for Windows XP.

(3:01) They seemingly used the Microsoft logo animation from one of their Windows 95 or 98 era PC games. Wow. Other than that, that bootleg release looks to me as though it was an attempt to translate Windows XP into Ukrainian using an English copy as a base. I do also imagine Ukraine did get Windows XP Starter Edition and a Ukranian language pack. For the second bootleg release you showed, I'm glad you showed a Computer Media Team bootleg as they, in my opinion, had some of the cringiest bootleg Windows releases I've ever seen.
