this system is terrible. very hard to break of excess but I did it with needle nose pliers and elbow grease for 5 minutes. . then it keeps falling apart, the black holder the connects the two parts well, is not holding. I need the screw kind. wasted $23.

If our steel baffle plate is pushed back the fire doesn't burn and smoke pours out whenever we open the door.

did exactly the same thing but my chimney was on outside of house and even with waterproofing sprayed on bricks whole chimney got soaking wet from rain getting in bricks and having no place to evaporate. moldy on walls against chimney.

Thanks for this, I have a bit of spalling brick, on a facade on the front of my house. I know its from lack of gutters and leaky windows. Both have been fixed. However, I didn't want to spend a fortune just to patch in a few bricks. Figuring out the product to use has been the hardest part. Gonna tackle this over the weekend and finally have it all fixed and sealed up.

Awww, we had a raccoon nesting under our shed this spring. The growl she made was super scary! We were gardening a lot and I think she moved her babies to a better spot. Our back yard looks a lot like yours - wood fence and big conifers along the back. Thanks for the cute video of what we could have had, if we’d stayed out of the shed.

Hello, After you cap off your chimney with the metal sheet, can you cover the whole thing with concrete and then add primer and paint it, then use henry tropi-cool 100 % silicone for top off everything?

i did this and it turned out terrible made walls next to chimney moldy water soaks through concrete and brick gets in chimney and cant evaporate out very well needs a ventilated cap close the chimney at bottom.

@@ranger178 @andylee9973 5 months ago I did add concrete on top of the metal sheet and use primer and pint and then add 100% Silicone Tropi-Cool White Roof material on top of all, it works good so far.

Capped chimneys must still allow for some ventilation otherwise the condensation has no place to go and causes damage/decay. Adding insulation to catch the condensation drips just means the insulation will become moldy.

You're supposed to put the damper as high as you can comfortably reach. So you get the residual heat off of the pipe. And you're supposed to use single wall pipe inside. For the same reason. And that damper looks to me like it wastes a lot of heat. That looks equivalent to leaving the damper open about 1/3 of the way. It may cut down on smoke some. But that's lots of heat energy up the flue and not in the house where it belongs. You have to use common sense sometimes!

I think your diagonal cross piece is the wrong angle. Should it not go from low at the post to high on the latch side to counter balance the downward pressure? I am not gate builder btw. I just happened to watch another clip

Smooth interior stainless liner flows 20% better draft and collects less creosote. Good idea to insulate it to keep flu temps up especially if its not a super efficient stove.
