I think your main problem was your plastic drive gear. It looked like the worm teeth were almost completely worn down and not engaging the metal pump drive gear.

You maybe right. One thing is certain, they are cheap to buy, (6-7 quid) and easy to fit. The one you see here is still going strong, as is the saw itself..

My father was born at in one of the houses at the end of the runway on new road. you missed the underground bomb shelter just as you cross the A10. its under a concrete slab which enters the field. goes deep underground but has extensive water ingress. no longer accessible. good video. played on this airfield alot as a boy

I found out about the shelter after I made this video and saw it on another vid. This is one of the more complete airfields, due to the industrial use of the buildings. I stil walk my dog here. The perimeter track is in good condition, but the Ultra Heavy Fusing building is falling to bits. Thanks for your comment.

Invicible was not operational 'till 1981. Hermes was under refit from 1980 to 1981. Bulwark was a helicopter anti sub warfare carrier, in poor condition and due to be scrapped. Not much to film here..
