I bought a 69 Catalina convertible earlier this year to make a really good Daily Driver/ Cruise-in Car. It was already running and driving fine, in fact it was currently inspected and tagged. All it needed was cleaned up really good inside and out. So far I've changed all the fluids, repainted the block and heads light blue, painted the intake and valve covers silver and painted the air Cleaner Black. It still needs a paint job, thought about going back with the Vedaro Green but I found an almost full gallon of Pontiac Dark Pewter that Pontiac used on the 87-88 Bonneville for next to nothing. I know I have to blow it apart now but I have to replace the vinyl flooring mat anyway so I had to take take the seats out anyway. I'm thinking of just taking the doors off when I do blow it apart because I've already sprayed the trunk and under the trunk lid and under the hood with truck bed liner. I have a week vacation coming at the end of the month so I will have 9 days to do whatever I decide to do. On an unrelated note If you ever find yourself in North West Arizona/Las Vegas area give me a shout, We'll run up to Vegas for a swap meet/show or if it's the right time we'll pop over to L.A. and you can do a video on the granddaddy of them all, The Pomona Swap Meet.

Check up inside the Glove Box......far left corner? There may be a release button that pops the trunk! It was an upgrade that you typically saw in an Executive or Bonneville, but some of the Cats came well-equipped if the owner ordered the options.......

I bought a 69 Catalina at an estate auction, I didn't really want it but it I was after a 64 Chevy truck that a customer of mine was looking for and a 73 Buick Regal that I wanted but it was a all or nothing thing. I sold the Truck to my customer along with the 350 out of the Regal and I'm going to pull the 428 out of the Catalina and put it in the Regal, I'm going to do a LS swap on the Catalina and build it into a Restomod street machine. I'm going to paint it paint code 73/WA9885, Black Rose Metallic, which the really really dark Purple that GM used on the Berretta's, S-10's and others in the late 80's-mid 90's.

Very fond memories of this car. My mom had the same car and year, but it was a convertible... dark blue with a white rag top. 400 in it. It was my wheels during high school.
