@SteveLovesLife-Music these negative comments are Ali fans who only ever listened to the lead vocal. Alis current vocal and session band performances are a mess. I think it’s great that John is performing “The Voice,” which I think is the Moodies’ best song. Remember: John is performing a “rock version” of the song, with bass and drums. That’s different from Justin’s acoustic version. If you want a rock version from a band member, this is the only place to get it. I think that Justin and John should be free to cover ANY Moodies song they like. Haven’t both John and Justin said words to the effect that ‘when any one of them brought a song to the band and the other guys put in their ideas, it becomes a Moody Blues song, not just a JH or JL song.’ Let’s put that idea into practice! I’d like to hear Justin play “Singer in a Rock ‘n Roll Band” in his future concerts!
@SteveLovesLife-MusicАй бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting so thoughtfully! I've also seen Justin Hayward in the past on tour playing MB songs, too, and they're wonderful, too. (He's touring in the UK and Netherlands this year.) I think they both should be able to play whatever MB songs they'd like. Why not? It's not like they're a 'cover band' really. Sounds good! Of course, no one can match Justin Hayward's delivery, but they still sounded great. Soundman needed to turn that snare down a bit, though - just my preference I guess. It was a little distracting.
@SteveLovesLife-MusicАй бұрын
They did sound good, but I agree Justin's vocals are superior. As far as the drum is concerned, they had him playing behind what looked like a plexiglass screen to soften the sound. But we were sitting to the far left of the stage on the side balcony, so that may have impacted the sound I was able to capture on vid. Thanks for watching and commenting so thoughtfully! John is an exceptional musician and he has an infectious charm that he always brought to Moody Blues concerts. However I do feel very conflicted hearing John perform Justin Hayward’s songs, including NIWS and Tuesday Afternoon. It’s only my opinion but for me it’s a matter of respect. As Justin is still touring and performing, several people have left comments suggesting that a video of Justin doing his two iconic songs would be appropriate for John to use in his concerts. I’ve been to many of Justin’s concerts and never once has he done any of John’s iconic songs such as See Saw or I’m Just A Singer. It wouldn’t feel right and I respect Justin for that. John has so many great songs of his own to do. Either way I’m thankful these two legends are still performing and they’re both wonderful. And thank you for sharing this video! Very cool!

I've also seen Justin Hayward in the past on tour playing MB songs, too, and they're wonderful, too. (He's touring in the UK and Netherlands this year.) @@SteveLovesLife-Music Hi Steve, thank you for your very thoughtful comment as well! 😊 Like most Moodies fan I’ve been to many of their concerts over many years, but I realize that I’ve been to even more of Justin’s solo concerts. Yes, he of course sings Moody Blues songs but they are either ones he wrote or co-wrote, or songs that another member of the band wrote but asked him to do the vocals. The one exception that I can think of is Out and In. Thank you for your deep respect of John, and he certainly deserves it! I still feel somewhat conflicted but if I could have “my way” I’d tell John and Justin go back and tour as the Blue Jays!! On another note I had no idea about John’s health situation. Thank goodness he’s ok and is still willing to tour and bring such pleasure to his fans of which I am very much proud to be one of! Thanks again! 💙😉💙
@SteveLovesLife-MusicАй бұрын
Thanks for your second note and the kind words. I agree with you -- why not let them play any song they like. Paul can still play any Beatles song, and so can Ringo with his band. It just brings joy, right? I didn't know about John's health until he disclosed it at the top of the show. We had tickets to see him earlier this year, but the concert was postponed. Now we know why. "Blue Jays" sounds too much like the O-Jays! Why not simply call them the Moody Blues if J & J get back together?

Are there any original members left?
@SteveLovesLife-MusicАй бұрын
Yes, aside from John, to paraphrase a search, "long term collaborator Alan Hewitt (keyboards) and Billy Ashbaugh (Drums) from the Moody Blues touring band), with Duffy King (Guitars) and Jason Charboneau (Cello)." Justin and John only members still alive from the "classic" Moodies era 1967-72, and technically they were not "original" members. So, sadly, no. However, this sounds wonderful. The musicians are inevitably passing on, but the music will live on.
@senamartinec7328Ай бұрын
@@SteveLovesLife-Music In the same category as Alan Hewitt, Julie Ragins began touring with The Moody Blues 4 years before Alan as a backup singer and keyboard player in 2006. She has been touring with Justin for quite a while. All around these musicians are great but I will always miss, like most Moodies fans, the second iteration of the band. Either way it’s a win for the fans! 💙😉💙

We were sitting to the far left of the stage on a side balcony, so that may have impacted the sound I was able to capture on vid with my phone.
