Good explanation. Maybe add that the 255''s and 0's that describe the subnet mask (or gateway address) get's applied to the IP address using a logical/binary AND gate to get the result.

In networking, interface and cable issues often arise due to various factors such as collisions, errors, duplex mismatches, and speed mismatches. These problems can be quite complex and require a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and resolve them. Here's a breakdown of each issue and how to address them: 1. Collisions: In Ethernet networks, collisions occur when two devices try to transmit data on the same network segment at the same time. This leads to data corruption and can slow down the network. To resolve this issue, ensure that you're using the correct cable type and length, and consider upgrading to a network topology that reduces collisions, such as a switched network. 2. Errors: Network errors can be caused by various factors, such as bad cable connections, faulty hardware, or software issues. To diagnose and fix errors, you can use tools like "ping" and "traceroute" to test connectivity and identify potential issues. Additionally, check for firmware updates for your networking devices and ensure proper cable management. 3. Duplex Mismatch: Duplex mismatches occur when two devices on a network link are configured with different duplex settings (full-duplex or half-duplex). This can lead to poor network performance and errors. To resolve this issue, check the duplex settings on both devices and ensure they match. You may need to adjust the settings on one or both devices to achieve a successful connection. 4. Speed Mismatch: Speed mismatches occur when devices on a network link are configured with different speeds (100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, etc.). This can lead to reduced network performance and errors. To resolve this issue, check the speed settings on both devices and ensure they match. You may need to adjust the settings on one or both devices to achieve a successful connection. In the context of CCNA 200-301, understanding and addressing these issues is crucial for decision-making during problem-solving stages. By following the appropriate steps to diagnose and resolve these issues, you'll be better equipped to maintain a stable and efficient network infrastructure.

Why we take subnet mask as /24
@networkingwithh4716
@networkingwithh4716 Ай бұрын
it depends on the number of hosts available on your network... more hosts much bigger subnet... few hosts then you go for /28 or /29 subnets... i hope its clear..
