I have listened to this a number of times but I comment because I must ask all those who show off their musicality what they think the issue raised with the conductor was? I have trawled through the comments thinking someone must have mentioned it but no. Going too fast, going too slow, the leader having smelly socks? I have never seen a soloist interrupt a performance other than if a disturbance in the audience or a cat walking onstage. Now I can't enjoy this wonderful performance without thinking about this issue!

This would have been a superb concert except for the A-hole who snuck in those loud and silly ads. I'm unsubscribing from this page!

The "A-hole" is KZbin. It's hardly the channel's fault.

I’m from Russia. And we know music of Khachaturian from childhood. It’s one of the greatest composers of classical music of all time. And this interpretation of this concerto is incredible. You want to live after that. And of course it’s a soul of Armenia that very very close for Russian people. Thank a lot by Thibaudet and Yamada

20:54 I think this is the most interesting point of this underrated Piano Concerto by Khachaturian, often forgotten composer. This is bad because this Concerto is not less powerful than Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky ones...

Only the Western authorities are responsible for the fact that music lovers of the world have forgotten about Khachaturian in recent decades (who was quite popular in the West in the 1930s and 70s and never lost his popularity in the USSR and Russia). Obviously, it was unacceptable to show the flourishing of music (and even more so, HAPPY music) in the USSR. The depressive Shostakovich was intensively promoted.

One of my very few recorings of any music in the late 1940's. Playing this on a player and speaker combo, I didn't hear much of the quieter passages. This music and a couple of other classical pieces got me through many "allnighters".

Hermoso concierto, especialmente su segundo movimiento, de indiscutible sonido "oriental". Brillante interpretación
@crazyorganist16098 ай бұрын
Such a deeply emotional performance of this glorious piano concerto. The first movement is so joyful and full of vigor. The second movement Is laced with sadness and beautiful emotional depth. The melody is so heavily influenced by Arabic music yet stamped with Khachaturian's unique harmonic style. The musical saw part adds so much more to the movement. It always sounds to me as if someone's crying and adds so much more to the sadness. Absolutely stunning performance

Khachaturian's music is Armenian totally, not to mess with modern Armenian overrated pop. He is the natural continuation of his great teacher Komitas (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q564ZJ5pZdF-lck).

Too bad, he couldn't have afforded a bow tie. This is an insult to the other musicians in the orchestra. Maybe he's "SPECIAL'
@PeterLGଈ10 күн бұрын
Did he play badly? Was his interpretation faulty? Did he miss notes? No. His lack of a bowtie made no difference. His status as a world-class pianist alone is enough; I doubt the members of the orchestra felt slighted in the least.

I saw this concerto on Nov 4, 2023 played by Thibaudet and conducted by Dudamel with the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra. This was by far the best interpretation of this concerto I've heard in my life. Thibaudet was unbelievable and Dudamel was fantastic. Together they brought this piece to such a high level that would make Khachaturian extremely happy and proud. I can't complement enough about this performance, all I can say is that I couldn't stop yelling "Bravo" at the end.

JY is playing this piece in Los Angeles this week. I wonder how Khatchaturian would have felt about his Soviet music being played by a gay pianist.

Long live JYT! I just adore this man. And yes, as one commentator noted, the orchestra and the conductor are equally as sublime. What a joy it must be to live in Paris with so many fine orchestras. And now the negative: KZbin placed ads in the middle of the second movement. In. The. Middle. Of. The. Second. Movement. Ridiculous!

Yes. I got so fed up with that I decided to subscribe. Worth every penny. No adverts or interruptions of any sort. Bliss. Plus I can download and listen offline and watch later or from my playlists. Films are great because you can go to your watch later list and carry on from where you left off. I couldn't be without it now. You should consider it.
