I started playing guitar a a little more than a yr ago. At age of 74 took few weeks lessons with a private teacher. Since than I've been practicing every day but dexterity is still not easy and sometimes frustrating. I know few songs with notes and practicing G D C Am E D7 chords. It is getting a little better and but still have problems with the tempo and the time changing chords. But I have a routine and warm up I do like you said in the video. I love the guitar and I will not give up but keep learning as many years as possible, until I die I suppose.. great hobby, keeps my brain sharp and doing mental and physical exercises. My goal by the end of 2024 playing Amazing Grace both with notes and or chords. I feel one song at a time is best for me and I don't get discourage. Thank you for the advice and the video.
@EricVonKimble2 ай бұрын
Hope this helps, you're never to old to learn and you prove that. A good way to practice chords changes is to break down the progression into pieces. Do chord changes that are challenging, back and forth play them in a slower tempo and just the 2 chords that you have trouble with. This will teach your hands to go to that chord without thinking over time. I sometimes go over a part 100 times or more to get it down, so your are not alone. Hope this helps.
@lisegirard46702 ай бұрын
@EricVonKimble thank you so much Eric for your advice. I'm practicing the G and the C both in major. I also alternate with D. Sometimes it is frustrating but like you said practice is the only way. I know few songs with tab and notes. So it's encouraging. Every day I do have a schedule that I do follow as much as posible. I do have also exercise books and DVD a lot of them using 2 chords. So I'm set for the rest and years of my life and just having a good time. I love music of all kind depending of my mood. Thank you so much for the encouragement, really appreciate it.🙏👍🎵🎸
