Every damn day I would starve myself to make weight, only eating 1 meal a day, a salad, and for what? For that win. For win after that win. To me food was a sacrifice I made to win. My body ached every damn day, from practice and malnourishment. Everyday my emotions were everywhere, I was always cold, but the burning desire to be the best kept me warm.It was all worth it. Starting my third year of wrestling soon, I will make varsity. I will be the best, mark my words.

I felt for the guy with the long hair. My senior season I lost to this one big guy and cried in the stairwell of the school because I knew that I had to return the next day for only 4th place. I had ACTs the next day the same day and time of the tournament at the same school. If I had beat that guy the day before I would have made it back to the gym in time to wrestle for first, but I didn't win the match and I was forfeited to get 4th place. Still stings today.

I think people don’t understand how much dedication this sport takes..physically and emotionally drains you every match (especially when it’s a tight match)

The training my coaches put me through for wrestling was harder then when I went through with Drill Sergeants at Basic Combat Training in the Army.

Not gonna lie, wrestling seems like the most depressing, uncomfortable sport ever

I remember last year I Wrestled with pulled ACL MCL and a LCL cracked my ribs and and almost snapped the muscles that held my right arm in the socket and pulled a muscle in my toe almost shaderd my jaw and still fought threw the entire season like that alot of people go into Wrestling with people that support them I have only had my parents come to my matches 3 times in 3 years and that was my freshman year I am currently 19- 7 and I want to keep that a positive setting

This sport is also like a huge mental sport to,like how to control your emotions when you’re losing or lost the match..I love this sport and the work and dedication that goes into this sport is so much more than all of the other sports combined!
