Dallas gets absolutely no recognition in hockey media. No player on that team gets attention or recognition. If Stankoven played in a bigger market, he'd be the no doubt frontrunner right now. I suggest watching some stars games this year, it's an absolute treat. The lack of recognition goes for a lot of their guys down there. (Heiskanen especially, should be in the Makar, Fox, Hughes, Josi convo). For me, it's gonna be a duel between Michkov and Stankoven for the Calder

Stankoven wins the Calder I’ll say it now like I said it last year when they finally called him up. The guy isn’t a “rookie” but rules are rules and imo he’s the run away winner.
@xmarine73
@xmarine73 12 күн бұрын
@@subbydagwoods he's not only insanely talented and has great hockey IQ but he's one of the few rookies in the running that has the right environment to thrive, get ice time, and get opportunities. He's a great goal scorer but he's proving that he's a great setup man too. He's positionally sound, he's fast, he's sneaky, he's slippery, he's creative, and he's decent defensively (though not great). His only issue, shooting for the Calder, is that he's on a deep team and may not be leaned on like a few of the other rookies on the list.

I've got a saying, and it applies to Tom in this instance "Don't take advice from someone you wouldn't take criticism from, and vice versa" Unlike you, this was/is his first few days on the job, and even if he's doing a bad job, he's doing a better job than you. Stop stuttering and stammering and present some good content value in your videos. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to place a bet on the Over/Under of which lasts longer, Tom's broadcast career, or this channel.

This video was not made to be a personal message or even an attempt to give advice to Tom Brady, I said he sounded inexperienced which I stand by and think is a fair criticism up to this point. That’s not saying he won’t get better, that’s saying that Fox might’ve flew him a bit too close to the sun too early. As I said, my first games were much worse then his and should be considered a war crime against all ears but thankfully, mine were on a much smaller platform then Fox. With time, who knows how good he could become but he shouldn’t have started in the spot he did. -Simon

The NHL is rigged to favor teams in the south... NHL markets that lost the most money over the past 11 years: - Florida - Arizona (relocated) - Anaheim - Columbus - Tampa - Carolina South, South, South , South and they all lost money. Florida Panthers lost $152.9 million from 2012 to 2022....more than Arizona lost Tampa lost 74.4 million in that span... 3 cups 5 finals 227.3 million in losses Imagine if Florida and Tampa went 30 years without a cup like Canada...they wouldn't exist. Meanwhile Toronto generated 127 million last season. Edmonton generated 122 million... Florida and Tampa lost 227.3 million Fun Fact: Atlanta set the record for most money lost by ANY NHL franchise with $130 million lost between 2005 and 2010 Just another garbage market in the South losing money for the league.

the Canadian teams has always had to bail out american markets when teams start losing money like that they shouldnt have the right to have that team because at that point its just hurting the whole league and no im not saying its just the canadian teams that make money some of the american teams make a ton of money too teams that lose that much money should pay a penalty to the league if they want to stay or get out that way it doesnt affect the teams that acually do make money as much and other places that want nhl teams can have a better opportunity because just adding teams like they keep doing the playoffs will have to be changed because eventually 16 teams making it wont be enough

It’s not “cheating” the system it’s called nobody likes taxes lol Of course the smarter states are the ones with no income taxes. Tell the high tax areas to knock it off
@duckydonne11
@duckydonne11 3 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s an accident that every income tax free state team has been to the Stanley Cup Finals at least once since 2016. They make up a minority of the teams and for all of them to somehow get close or win the hardest playoffs, it’s hard to believe it’s an accident. That doesn’t mean it’s free either, it still takes a lot of effort by management to win. However, no sport has a tighter cap than hockey, it feels as if cap management is the most important thing even over drafting stars. So any advantage to that very tight cap I think a good GM can take advantage of, and they all have
@gaogaenssb5737
@gaogaenssb5737 3 ай бұрын
This is such a lame conversation that completely ignores how hard the owners of the teams work to create attractive places to play. The top 10 teams by owner would include all the tax free states, no cap.

Fun Fact: - Atlanta set the record for most money lost by ANY NHL franchise with $130 million lost between 2005 and 2010. The NHL is a REVENUE sharing league. Meaning the teams that generate money have to prop up the dying teams in the South. You just ignore how the NHL is keeping teams in Anaheim, Carolina, Tampa, Miami alive...and did the same or Phoenix for 28 years, and did the same for Atlanta.... All the Canadian markets generate revenue for the league...they don't need money from the southern teams. The southern teams NEEDED favourable treatment with the tax situation to survive.

When you make over $610k single or $732k married (oversimplified US tax bracket) you will the resources to help with taxes. I'm talking about real easte, 401k, creating trust, starting a small business, creating nonprofit foundations, and etc that I think all these players will be fine. Also let not forget sponsorships, the high taxed states like CA and NY have ppl and companies that make significantly more money are willing to throw at these players definitely will even the playing field. Honestly, I think it's a cop out answer to not winning or signing the players you want.

You are right, It is a cop out answer. It’s not like these laws are new, they’ve been around for decades. The one thing all these orgs have in common other than their tax situation is the elite level of ownership they all have.

You said your a browns hater.. so you’re statement from the get go isn’t valid. You aren’t looking at anything statistically, and what they achieved last year. Nor to how they improved in the offseason. 5-12?? Seriously? What a joke take. You brought 0 facts to any of your comments about my browns. I know there are ALOT of questions.. but to say 5-12 is absolutely asinine!

Fair, honestly if I were to give a record for them off the top of my head I’d probably give them a few wins but that’s the tough thing with doing this the way we do it. Picking every game makes it hard to do, I’m sure I’ll end up pissing a lot of people off over the course of this series but that’s the fun of it. You gotta make some hard picks and try and defend them lol. -Simon

He has no leverage. He's still under contract thru next season so he can't just leave the team, and if he holds out for too long into the season he'll have to play the next year to fulfill his contract. Then they can franchise tag him after the upcoming season for 2 seasons n he'll loose at least $5 million a year of what they are offering him. He's trying to do like Debo did with less ground to stand on. There's no pressure on the 49ers.

The Coyotes gave EK that money and term, not the Canucks. The GM and President are also different from the management group that traded for him. Also, Stephenson is only pure offence in comparison to DeBrusk who can at least play D and the PK

You guys got the Seahawks-Rams 2021 playoff game bassackwards. Goff already had a broken hand and Wolford started and got hurt. Goff came in and won it despite just having had surgery on his thumb of his throwing hand including tossing a key 4th qtr TD. I never bought the McVay driven narrative about Goff being the problem in LA.

Oh shit, you’re totally right-I think as a hawks fan I’ve tried to wipe that game from my memory-was an absolute embarrassment for us no matter who was at QB. To your point, that was likely a preview of the talent Goff still had-that I and others have been proven wrong to ignore - Caleb

It’s almost like the lions actually wanted Goff in 2021 and if you actually look at interviews and press-conferences with Holmes and Campbell at the time they publicly stated that Goff was their guy. For some reason even now that they’ve had success with Goff, every talking head is STILL regurgitating the same baseless “Goff was a bridge QB” narrative. News flash it’s possible for different franchises to have deferent evaluations of the same player.

I don’t think that you should write JJ off right off the rip. Jason Kidd became a coach the season after he retired as a player and now he’s leading the Mavs to the conference finals. JJ’s analysis of the game is better than any other analyst in the game right now. He has the brains for it
@TrickPlayPod
@TrickPlayPod 5 ай бұрын
Totally fair-just one of those things that feels like a pretty ballsy bet at this point. Even though examples like Kidd prove that it CAN work, plenty of other former players have flamed out as coaches. Especially given how weird that player/coach relationship potentially will be given his podcast with LeBron, I don’t know that the Lakers is the place for him. Would make sense for a team to take a chance on him at some point-and yes, he deserves a chance before we totally write him off-the Lakers at this point in time just doesn’t feel right to me - Caleb
