The reason that having military might such as this is not stupid has to do with peace through strength. You need to learn the meaning of the concept of deterrence - How being mightily armed Can avoid the need to enter into conflict. After all, you can argue that it would be much less likely for Putin to decide to invade Ukraine if Ukraine had had military capabilities considered to be more equal to those of Russia And this would even more be true if Ukraine's capabilities were comparable to those of the United States. Military might is a deterrence for countries to enter into conflict with each other. Why God of war if your chances of winning are poor and your chances of great losses with little to show for it are so high? Again this is peace through strength. In fact, there is a whole school of thought regarding the role of nuclear weapons in preventing great power wars because such conflict cannot be won since everyone dies. And it is true that we have not seen a great power conflict since the end of World War Two.

As a retired US Marine I can explain it very simply. We build up our military strength for the simple reason of deterring hostile actions from bad people. The stronger we are the less likely anyone would be foolish enough to attack us. It is no different than having police to reduce crime and keep people safe from criminals. If there are police at a bank, criminals are less likely to rob that bank. As long as bad people exist in the world, there will be a need to have good people who are capable of defeating them and keeping good people safe.

I’m with you I don’t want people to get hurt. However Military should protect you and your country… again it’s just the US Military. If we all would just leave each other alone then no Military would have this much. But that’s not going to happen.

Did she just say Americans pay to get bad education whereas Russia has free education? I’m confused at this lady’s passive aggressiveness without doing proper research. The U.S has the best educational institutions in the world which is what makes them capable of such creations. The point of them being prepared like this isn’t just for themselves, it also serves to able to help their allies as well. This is not something I expect Russians to understand since they seem inherently selfish and don’t seem to know or care about saving anybody but themselves. It’s ironic for a Russian to mention the cost of living here yet, so many Russians along with Ukrainians resort to being mail order brides in order to live here. It’s annoying to see people talk about Americans without actually taking the time to understand us. People come from all over the world to not only get educated in the states but also to live here.
