Could you tell me how wide is the stone part (minus the heart) is in proportion to the height? It looks less than 2:1 height to width. Is that because of the use of "heart" material? Thank you, your videos are extremely helpful.

Why are the muck beds so thin in stone masonry?
@J.HarveyStonework2 күн бұрын
I like to build so stone is on stone. Mortar doesn’t last forever and stone should outlive mortar. Stronger basically.
@harryclarke88772 күн бұрын
@ ahh makes a lot of sense. so close to drystone but with mortar sealing up any gaps to make it solid

looke bery good, those alternating corners especially great corner cut. How do you avoid water pooling inside the cavity? are these rocks porus at all, and is there any waterproofing treatment given before or after?

Nice that your videos aren’t all glory shots like all the others. Showing the reality of stonework, Its 50% dressing 50% laying.

Am I indulging in a bit of 'Wishful thinking' or are you getting quicker and quicker Josh? And, it's probably just me, but, could you perhaps give us a bit of a verbal overview of what it is you are doing when you are tapping the stones, particularly the loaf-shaped corner ones? I know it's important because you spend considerable time doing it and for the life of me I can't see what difference you've made! And, lastly, your boots could do with a bit of remedial polishing mate!

When you are done, do the walls get any kind of sealer or protective top coat?
@stonesmasher83693 күн бұрын
U can put siloxon on it sealer yes but for thousands of years stone never needed sealed
@J.HarveyStonework3 күн бұрын
It will get sprayed down at the end, it’s just been so damp recently. We will review it after it’s been cleaned but I don’t normally put anything on the walls no.

@J.HarveyStonework4 күн бұрын
Of course, corners & detail etc can be fiddly but the final product is defo worth it. On the straight wall sections you can blast a lot more in.
@nathd17484 күн бұрын
@J.HarveyStonework I'm more used to doing random with bigger pieces and jointing up compo on the front. That stuff is all hidden compo, so you haven't gotta faff with jointing. Where you based if you don't mind me asking?
