What a hunt, I love seeing all those LCs get pulled, plus the half penny too! That medal is incredible, I enjoyed watching this for a second time! Did you film returning the war medal to the property owner? Fantastic hunt either way, just inspiring to know there are permissions like that out there waiting! HH my Dudes! 😁

Congrats lads on some awesome finds. You really have crazy luck finding so many Edward VII coins, considering his short reign as king. That WWI medal, all I can say is wow. Wow, wow, WOW!

Hey, so electronic stud Finders use sensors to detect change in density. So it'll find anything dense, not just metals.

This is awesome. Thanks for posting Will. I didn’t get to see a whole lot of the natural finds that day so I’m glad to finally see some of them. Figures Jeff found a musket ball lol. I don’t think I’ve been on a hunt with Jeff, where he hasn’t pulled at least 1. DRH, alway end up with something inter as well so glad to see they did not disappoint lol. I only wish I had more time to chill with you all that weekend. Cheers and see you all soon.

So many pennies being lost eh? No matter where you look. I once found an 1886 Upper Canada penny in my friend’s backyard in Ottawa poking out of the ground. No equipment, as I was a kid, but it made me interested in history and metal detecting.

That would be a cool find as a kid. You should head back there now with your detector. Just as side note, The Upper Canada coins stopped being minting in 1857. After that they created large cents with the first issue being in 1858 with Queen Victoria on it. They did issue a Large Cent in 1886, so most likely that's what you found if the date is correct. Congrats!

I agree with you that the thing at the 11:00 mark is an ornament that went on leather strapping of some sort. Like you, I really like finding relics where I can try and figure out the story :)

I remember seeing that! Def a cool button. Those are some of my favorite to find. That foundation actually belonged to the uncle of former Ottawa senator GM Bryan Murray. Waiting for the hay to get cut around it to go back.

I saw you were advertising to dig in the Spencerville area. I would be interested in watching you guys and learn a bit before investing in proper equipment. Can you share where you’ll be next? I have an ancient Radioshack metal detector. I’d invite you to our property but it was severed from the homestead next door and the house is from the 70’s. Mind you I did find a chip bag full of coins in the barn. The previous owner ran a mobile petting zoo and had a drug problem…. 🤔

Yes we'll be heading back to the area in the near future. If we get a site worth inviting another person I'll let you know. I do recommend that you still try and detect your own property too. Just because the homestead is severed now, it wasn't like that 100 years ago. Find some original soil and swing!
