It's who we know, not necessarily what we know. I'd imagine you'd have networked quite some over that time, working with some more than others heck even forming some decent relationships with people, but once you sell that business that reason to stimulate those relationships stops and can lead to them ending. Also having done something for over 18 years it becomes a large part of your life and you'd have likely shaped and moulded your own lifestyle to incorporate the work in some way. So i'd imagine losing those connections and your lifestyle no longer suiting your now potentially unknown needs could lead to challenges to both physically and mentally. You lose who you once were, your identity is gone, you will go through grief and mourn in a way, but every thing will be okay in the end. You will find your place in the world again.
