How did I miss this video!? Congratulations and thank you! When I was little, a broken brush -- a palm brush -- was how I managed to first start doing my own hair. The sock curls look great on you :)

The crazy thing is that I moved from the US to Africa and when i go out, I have to cover my hair otherwise I am a spectacle in the streets. Men in trucks and cars are about to have accidents staring at me so long and hard. Only when I wear my hair out. At the time it was a teenie weenie aftro. As it grows, I garner much more attention because in the part of Africa where I am you do not see afros and really long natural hair that is real. I also think that because my hair is salt and pepper that is another attention grabber. I feel uncomfortable walking the area unless my hair is covered. I also do not want to stand out as a "Foreigner" which is what i really am but they do not always know this unless they see my hair. If i cover it up then they will not know that I am not from Tanzania Africa.

Thank you so much. I really needed this. In my experience, I’ve done this with almost every aspect of my life so it’s time to take the radical self-accountability. It starts within.

Questions: Joy-el, how often do you wash your hair? Do you use shampoo and conditioner every time? What's been the past history of washing and conditioning? What do you think helps most with your length retention?
@SharmaineJoyel16 күн бұрын
I wash my hair about once every 3 weeks. When it was shorter, it was once every 1-2 weeks. Most of the time I use both shampoo and conditioner. Rarely do I ever just cowash. Moisturizing my ends and wearing a bonnet I think help the most with length retention :)

Ohmigosh!! I’ve never thought to use a comb with the RevAir! I bought a few months ago and was so disappointed because my hair literally married together and dried that way. I will try it this way

Can you please do a “how I grew my type 4 hair” video please! I know you have so many videos where you talk about the different things that you do but having it all in one video would be so helpful! 🩷 also I love your videos and watch them all the time because we have such similar hair and I take your advice on so many things regarding hair!

Um not sure if this will take off, but i wanted to start a thread. What do you like about your type 4 hair? I like the fact that you can basically shapeshift it into anything you want. I've seen so many creative styles on tiktok. Some girls even copy anime characters hairstyles. Type 4 hair is probably the most malleable hair type and it requires the least amount of product. Versatility is probably our biggest strength. Another thing i like about it, is the way it looks when its healthy. Even if youre somoene with finer strands, your hair can still look voluminous and full because its so coily. The last one for now is the afro lol. Its literally the coolest style ever and is extremely underrated. It looks like your hair is floating. Its the way our hair looks in its natural state with minimal effort and i think thats pretty cool. Anyway if you have some additions comment down below 😁
@aminaa20827 күн бұрын
It is not the most versatile. 4c hair cant be straightened. Even when 4c hair is straightened it looks stiff, dry and not straight. you cant do big bouncy curls with 4c hair either. 4C hair is only good at doing afro hairstyles. No need to lie and say its the most versatile.
@SharmaineJoyel16 күн бұрын
@aminaa208 Quit being a hater 🙄🥱😒 It's not healthy
@gentledov315 күн бұрын
@aminaa208 i disagree. You can straighten it, define it, you can definitely do big curls with it, you can also make very unique hairstyles because of its ""stiffness"" because it stays in place! There's a tiktoker with 4c hair that does anime and cartoon hairstyles easily! It's one of the easiest hair types to do braids and locs in too. I'm sorry about whatever unresolved issues you have that made you make this comment. If you are someone with 4c hair, I promise you it's very easy to manage and style. However, it will only be easy when you're not constantly trying to make it into something it's not. Your hair is not a problem to be solved. If you don't have 4c hair well....I'm sure your hair is beautiful too, but this comment was pretty lame. You don't need to put down other hair types to feel secure about yours.

Congratulations, but have to ask does it matter what hair type your kids come out with? Most people I came in contact with is always worried about the kids hair if mixed.
@SharmaineJoyelАй бұрын
I personally will be fine with whichever hair type my children will have since I'll be prepared to care for it. As long as they are taken care of and understand all hair types, then however they are born will be okay 🩷

@@SharmaineJoyel Nice looking couple. Is he Korean? If so, do you watch Mazelee? It’s interesting and notice two other biracial women on KZbin that I’m subscribed to? One is Megan Moon but can’t think of the other one now. Found her and channel is Aisha Ba. They might be of interest to you. Also, I will watch if you do a channel of you and your husband later on.

I just forward two of your videos to my friend in Texas. Have biracial grandkids with African American hair and don’t know how to care for it. Informed her how you have great advise. I was born with what people called good hair but my life was horrible on the count of it fighting with black jealous girls. Now at 62 years young my hair is thinning out and I know they would be happy if they seen me now.
