HONESTLY! I was racing the old LMP car from the early 2000s there last week (I think it's called HPD or HPX) and I was a second off the leader in qualifying. On lap one, I saw him take that line and my draw dropped. I started doing that and was able to pull back 6 tenths from that corner alone. Ridiculous.

Not holding brakes should be protestable in iRacing, and come with 2 warnings and then progressively longer suspensions. No excuse for that at all.
@StarTrekGeek476 күн бұрын
On the bright side though, iRacing often does intervene and fix these things once they are found and popularized.

Also for quali people being able to go below the banking on the flat surface like ?! Bro what
@DanCrossRacing8 күн бұрын
I agree with this sentiment 100%. iRacing's track limits enforcement is inconsistent and frustrating. Why is taking this line okay at T1 Daytona, but doing the same thing on the entry to T11 at Interlagos not okay? Why should doing the same on entry to T5 at Road America be okay? In every instance they're safe drivable surfaces, but in only one do you get an off-track 1x and a slow-down. I'm fine with iRacing using off-track 1x's to enforce track limits if they're going to be consistent with it. I'd much rather they used 1x's for places where it's unsafe to leave the track (ie anywhere there's grass / gravel rather than runoff).

if it's not against the rules why are you not taking the faster line in 1

i just wish we could ge iracings players and variety on a sim that is more coherent to the definition of realism... not only these track limits but the tyre sim too is unacceptable, i couldnt justify the price of the subscription for any longer than a month they need to get on par with the real cars otherwise theyre just 3d models that kinda drive similarly to the real cars they're trying to replicate

But... you did save time by cutting the last corner on the bus stop. Maybe you didn't on that particular lap because of how you entered, but cutting that last corner absolutely lets you have a straighter exit and carry more speed all the way down the enormous straight. The guy one turn 1 missed the turn and took the long way and definitely didn't gain any advantage.
@Tdi998 күн бұрын
the guy at t1 did gain an advantage, its a known fast line for prototypes and you can gain alot. they didnt miss the corner they knew what they were doing

There is nothing to fix here its a real track
@Tdi9910 күн бұрын
The real track ends at the white line, using the run off area is technically wrong as it's not the racing surface. some racing series in real life bend the rules in this area, however that still is wrong. Motorsport is the only sport that can't stay inbetween the lines and I have no idea why?
@tbricksable10 күн бұрын

Lol complaining about something well within the rules that you are totally capable of emulating is wild stuff. I’ve never understood people arguing over how to define track limits. As long as the definitions are equally applied to all drivers it literally makes zero difference, the line is available to all,
@Tdi9911 күн бұрын
It's really easy, track limits are defined by the white line. Motorsport is the only sport that can't seem to understand how to stay inside the white line.
@scriptedPR11 күн бұрын
Totally agree. T1 needs to be fixed at Daytona and honestly all tracks should just be between the white lines, 2 tires at least.
@Tdi9911 күн бұрын
Yep! It's easy to understand a simple rule like that, but for some reason motorsport can't
@backmarkerbob12 күн бұрын
The problem with that line is the debris still not being where it needs to be. Drivers have tried that line in real life and it doesn't work out due to the marble build-up. That area should be quite dangerous as it won't even be swept during FCY
@justinbarrera437712 күн бұрын
if everyone is running that line even irl then there is no debris build up and rubber is being laid down. If no one runs it than yes it will be terrible to run.
@backmarkerbob12 күн бұрын
@justinbarrera4377 But everyone DOESN'T run it in real life, the GT3s never do and their marbles alone make that line treacherous
@Tdi9912 күн бұрын
Yeah I didn't see many prototypes running it when I popped into the real d24
@justinbarrera437711 күн бұрын
@Tdi99 no one is gonna run it as no rubber has put down there and it maybe not legal to run. If you want to go faster in iracing, you learn to run that line
@Tdi9911 күн бұрын
It's not about lap time in this case
@Memebe9612 күн бұрын
I mean you do gain time since you would have to take the corner slower to not cut on the grass

Yes you can do, however that run there I was already off throttle to trying and aviod it, I was down on my delta and already losing time - I should have mentioned this in the video to be fair.

Maybe you want to consider to make a new guide. In 2025S1 my best lap is 1:42,1. Normal I'm +/- 0,7s slower as your guide. I think they changed the aero mapping of the car a lot since your guide.
@Tdi9912 күн бұрын
I tent to not make a new guide, just because the guide is for line and breaking point and a general view of how to complete a lap. But yes they have changed the SFL and also the fixed setups change from season to season
@Thijs9912 күн бұрын
@ Some brakepoints have shifted almost 50 meters. I understand what you are saying. Keep up the good work!

It's getting a bit ridiculous, lmao. The so-called "esports" line is completely illegal on the real Daytona track. All cars must stay within the white lines going into T1 on the real track. For a service that wants to be the most realistic simulator on the market, this is for sure a joke 😂
@Chabot180113 күн бұрын
They will not change it because it is the racing line in real life
@trevdc245013 күн бұрын
Correction, he did not go off circuit, he’s just using a faster line, and that line is not the norm so you view it as outcasted and exploiting. Now the curious thing is if that line translates to real life. Which if it doesn’t then iRacing has a problem, but if it’s legal and translates correctly as a sim then it’s a good move and you gotta adjust.
@Tdi9913 күн бұрын
See the circuit or track to me is inbetween the white lines. The wide line into T1 is using the tarmac run off area which isnt part of the "racing surface" IRacing are letting us use it just like the stewards may do in real life but that is still technically wrong, my example is indycar and F1 at COTA the second to last corner. One can go wide and one can't. Motorsport is the only sport that has trouble staying between the lines. The people that designed the circuit didn't want drivers to use the wide line into T1 hence the white line.
Honestly. I didnt gain time taking that line. Neither did my team. We pushed it hard too. Made more sense to stay inside cause you get to claim the inside line. Which you're way more likely to be entitled to anyway.
@braydenjones60314 күн бұрын
Umm, maybe learn the track limits. You're complaining about someone using track limits better than you are. There are cones on the track ffs.
@Tdi9914 күн бұрын
What happenes after the cones stop, like they do after you come off the oval
@braydenjones60312 күн бұрын
@Tdi99 The point is, the track limits are the same for everyone. If someone knows them better than you, you need to know them better.
@Tdi9912 күн бұрын
Ahh right now we are getting somewhere - the wide line into turn 1 is using the runoff area of the track. The racing surface is definitely by the white line. now it maybe ok to use this area based on rules from the "stewards" or iRacing, but you are still leaving the track and gaining an advantage by doing so, much like taking the kerb and grass at the busstop. My point here is yes we can use that wide line however it's not correct based on the white line markings of the track - take track limits in F1 and indycar at COTA different rules for each at the same track, it's stupid. No issues with track limits at Monaco or Long Beach? motorsport is the only sport that seems to have trouble staying inside the marked lines. imagine this idea in football, rugby, baseball, basketball etc. its okay to cross some lines but you can't cross these other lines.

I don't think that should be a penalty because technically you're making the track longer, I believe that's in play, no?
@Tdi9914 күн бұрын
You are 100% correct that at the monent we csn use that part of the surface. However it is just the run off area and not part of the racing surface as it's outside of the white line. We are allowed to use it however this can change
@TheProgGuy14 күн бұрын
I have never got turn 1 correct and the couple times ive set best laps there, i still felt like turn 1 was the downfall. I need to watch like 5 guides or something just to understand the line because it doesnt make sense. It's a similar story at Road America, turn 6 i believe, the blind left hander up a hill, and also the carousel.
@Tdi9914 күн бұрын
Yeah in the d24 I was changing lines and a few people were no faster using that line. If I nailed the line it's deffently quicker! That turn 6 ar road America, you need to turn in earlier than you think, before you go over the hill, the car will understeer
@sirseven315 күн бұрын
To be fair you were in the dirt, he used the pavement and it is technically part of the track
@Tdi9915 күн бұрын
It's a run off area at T1, the track is marked by the white line and the racing line currently allowed is over that
