Saw this same group at Ronnie Scott’s on this tour . I knew they were good but I was 18 and a wannabe bass player. I was clueless to how good this group was . Spoke to Kenny and we chatted with members of the Buddy Rich band who turned up . Kenny started speaking Japanese with the Japanese trumpet player who had a silk Buddy Rich logo baseball jacket on ! He said Kenny spoke good Japanese. The next year Kenny came back with Art Blakey and another top class band . In the other weeks between I saw Horace Silver , Joe Henderson , Elvin Jones , Mcoy Tyner , George Coleman , Ronnie Scott’s was a dream world I mean I used to buy Blue Note lps then the artists would be playing right in front of me

David Holland's incredible musical history is unique and therefore completely unparalleled largely due to both his unique compositions as well as his legendary facility at the bass. Every band throughout the 70s 80s 90s and 2000s was either amazing or flat out groundbreaking ie his legendary duets with Sam Rivers his accompanyment and association with legends such as Miles, Kenny Wheeler, Kenney Barron, Anthony Braxton, and Chris Potter will stand as testimony to his amazing musical mind and unparalleled bass playing both inside and out. Hey he's still out there playing better than ever

Saw Scott several times at small jazz clubs during the 70’s in Europa. Must say that this live session is a stand out performance. Specially track #2 composed by the marvellous tenor-swinger “Jug”. Enjoy this swingin’ treat folks. Toodeloo’s & Cheers!

I like all of Dave Holland's bands but I'm especially fond of this group because of the line up. All of these musicians are A list and playing as well as I've ever heard them. Kenny is on top form and not at all out of his depth standing next to the younger rising star Steve Coleman-a great set, thanks for the upload.

I can recall Bobby talking about how nervous the idea of playing with his original hero made him. A good friend of his, young Jackie McLean from Harlem, had that experience, on his very first studio invitation (by Miles Davis). As they were set to record, HIS Alto hero, Charlie Parker was sitting in the engineer's booth!

Tolle Aufnahme! Was ich aber beim besten Willen nicht verstehen kann ist die Tatsache, dass im Abspann sogar alle Kameraleute genannt werden, die Musiker in der Band allerdings nicht. Wo bleibt da die Wertschätzung? Unbegreiflich.
