For a draft year that was considered to be bad, Nico has been a nice surprise; putting up 31 points in 50 games, he's not getting the media coverage of past No. 1 picks nor is he putting up numbers like the other rookies this year , but he has been a good addition to the devils who are having a bounce back year with the help of their young players(Butcher Bratt and Wood) and the continued success of their veterans (Palms and Hall). Except for a stretch just before the All-Star break the Devils have been a consistent team and when they get Johansson and Schneider back from injury they are only going to improve. Don't expect them to win the Cup or anything, I'm expecting a first maybe a second round exit if they get a good seed, but it will be nice to see playoff hockey back in Newark.

I'd say Greene and Zajac are the veterans, Hall and Palms are fairly new Devils but absolutely huge pieces to the team now

The most underrated thing about this guy is his defense and fore-checking. He steals so many pucks, and outworks a lot of larger opponents in the corners. He will probably be adding 15 pounds of muscle over the next couple years as well. He's a complete team player with a high hockey IQ.

I may not be Devils fan, but I am happy for the Devils that Nico is no Nail Yakopov. He has 31 points in 50 games which may not be McDavid or Matthews type of numbers, buy it's pretty decent for a first year.

Jeddy Steve yakupov had an amazing rookie season
@jeddysteve83306 жыл бұрын
Kurt Dat boi that may be true, however I believe that he had a lot of pressure in Edmonton after 3 first round picks in a row. Taylor Hall and Nugent-Hopkins were quite a bit to live up to (More Hall than Nugent-Hopkins, but still you get the point). This may have put a lot of pressure on him. He also has knee problems so this may also be a reason why he never panned out. Hishier doesn't really have that pressure because Hall is now a very skilled player that he doesn't really have to feel pressured to play with, but someone to help deal with the expectations of being a first overall pick. This is something Yakopov never had so I can see why he wouldn't pan out. I do have to agree though, 31 points in 48 games is quite good. Although I would call that amazing.

Jeddy Steve The thing why Yakupov is bust because of his game IQ he is really skilled player but lacks of creativity and game IQ.

That's true, but it's a disgrace to think that every 1st pick has to play like McDavid or Matthews. These Players are so rare, but everybody thinks that that's "normal" for a 1st pick.
@Devilsfan-pd8ov6 жыл бұрын
Kantros hall and McKinnon are better then Mathews. Players like Crosby ovechkin Malkin and mcdavid is rare not so much that over ratted mathews
