A lot of young aspiring authors have no clue how the publishing industry works.
@appletherapy4 ай бұрын
They shouldn't have to. Japan's writing industry is supportive of new writers. Everywhere else is extremely hard on writers. Unless you go indie and force your book to be born. And even then you gotta learn business and marketing to make people buy your book.

What's the marketing teams job if you're relying on the author to do the marketing for you? Isn't that meant to be one of the main perks of publishing with a publishing house over self-publishing? Authors didn't used to have to promote books themselves, but it seems like publishing houses just want to cut costs these days.

Humans aren’t just born knowing things. E have to learn everything. It’s learned sense. Common sense argument is a way to insult others and feel intelligent.

Wonderful interview! I am days ( hours ? ) away from my first submission with Greenleaf. Multiple book projects in the forge. I need help! 12 year resident of Mexico, the Spanish speaking market for book 1 is huge. Looking forward to reaching out to Terrie also! Thank you Ms. Hall!

Thank you for this informative podcast; it was a wealth of information going beyond foreign and translation rights. I loved it! I recently finished my first MS, and as an aspiring author, I must educate myself in every aspect of representation and publishing. I have just heard back from Terri with interest and would be honored to have the opportunity to work with such an accomplished and knowledgeable agent. I am thrilled to be a part of this world and cannot wait to see where this journey takes me!!! Thank you again for putting forth information that new writers like myself would otherwise have no way of knowing.

I'm almost done! I cried a few times my Friend and I don't even have Lyme. I found you because a friend DOES and found your interview. I bought Sergey's book too but yours was much more compelling! You're an amazing writer! So so mind blowing! I want to invite Ivanovich here to NC. Since Montenegro will not be viable soon, I hear. Beautiful Woman! Thank you for sharing your journey!

if Mimi Chan would like authors to join the author program before their book is published they should change the policy to allow it. Authors are having trouble joining because admins are rejecting them with the excuse that they're not published. We would LOVE to take advantage of the GoodReads site to promote our work and generate a following before the book is done but your policy doesn't allow it.

Any company with any sense is going to watch the reviews and eliminate the unfavorable one. Yes they can do that. When the last time you looked something up and it was under 3.5 stars?
