Denny Doherty and John both died in their 60s , Mama Cass died in her 30s., Only Michelle left now and she's 80

You can call this THE MAMMAS AND The PAPAS but its,really not only 1 true original member left DOES not make the real group.

When John put the group back together in 1980 only the two guys remained. He called his daughter Mackenzie and Spanky McFarlane. He never called it “the new mamas & mamas”, he just carried on with what he could. The above configuration was Scott McKenzie, Original member Denny Doherty …. John was in the hospital getting a new liver. Say what you will but this is the mamas & papas too… members come and go

@@lauriebeebelewis If you look up many of the bands on Wikepedia, you will see that MANY of the bands from back then have made personnel changes. As far as this video, they sound exactly like the original Mamas and Papas.

Some quite rude comments here in the comment section, yes it is just Denny from the original line up but Spanky is a legendary singer in her own right, and Scott had a beautiful voice. The ladies voices sound beautiful.

I have always wondered if Elaine "Spanky" had a condition that caused her weight to balloon. Was there nothing she could do about it? Did she ever express concern about it? I wish "Spanky and Our Gang" had had a longer run. Did they really pass on :"Daydream Believer?" I have imagined Spanky's group doing that, would have been wonderful.

You are very kind!! This was one of my last performances with The Mamas & Papas after 7 years! My band Laurie Beebe Lewis & The Electric Underground does a 60’s tribute along with many songs from The Mamas & The Papas! Maybe we will be invited to come to Australia one day!

Holy crap! Scott MacKenzie on guitar. He was a best friend of John Philips. So much so that John named his actress daughter Mackenzie after him and gave Scot his hit song San Francisco.
