It find it funny how people say he only uses pentatonics, but he just dropped "phrygian dominant" in this interview from the 90's

The pentatonic use has always been there but you’d get other scales too (aeolian, dorian) you’d get some arpeggios too since he used to do some sweep picking. Once he got into the 90s during the load era he was all about srv, hendrix, and blues rock stuff I honestly really havent liked any of the lead stuff he’s done on the last three albums they did
