Great job on that beast. I gotta get a 6 gear transmission for mine. It needs it badly since it’s only a 4 gear manual. Any ideas on best bolt on w/o fabrication needed? That’s an awesome job and car wow.
@gettemtogethergarage8868Күн бұрын
Thank you and 6 speed transmission you will have to do modifications to the tunnel but the 5 speed tremec will need non or very little to clear everything in the tunnel but will give you the over drive you need tho and slightly cheaper

I found one that my mother’s friend has and it’s a Crossfire fuel injection which I am thinking about buying. It has leather seats and it has not been driven much most of its life.
@gettemtogethergarage886818 күн бұрын
That doesn't sound like a bad deal low miles makes it very good but might need an upgraded fuel system down the road the cross fire didn't provide Alot of performance

Beautiful car! That's strictly an AMC AMX. The original AMX was a 2 seater (as shown) and was only produced in 68-70. Total production of around 20k. The Javelin AMX had a longer wheel base and a back seat.

Did you have to mess with the exhaust in order to install rear lift?
@gettemtogethergarage886820 күн бұрын
Yes if you still have the stock down pipes that go into 1 pipe I had to cut and drop it Afew inches to clear the front drive shaft

Always loved the look of the Gran Torino and with the right engine which they had a few choices it could be a very nice/fun car.

What a great car! Well done! The only thing it is missing is a clutch pedal. I have a 4-speed in my 78 Z-28 (factory) and it ups the fun quotient by 100%! Although the 4-speed option left the car without AC. Always the art of compromise. Again, well done!
@gettemtogethergarage886823 күн бұрын
I will have a spare 4 speed soon after I 6 speed swap my 79 Camaro z28 so I will always have the option down the road but will have a with it as well to

Good lord, I miss the older cars all of them. I just replaced my wife's starter in her BMW, 328 xi, and boy, what a joke.. we had to take apart half the damn engine to even get to it.. I miss the oldies.
@gettemtogethergarage8868Ай бұрын
The newer cars are much more complicated for sure the old cars you can take apart mostly with just a 1/2 and 9/16 ratches and wrenches and a Phillips screw driver

I had a black 71 350 in high school. Black/ black vinyl roof. Rally wheels. I should never of got rid of it. It needed work , but mostly solid, 350 was starting to get a little tired. Valve sesls, etc. Interior was kinda ok. Needed help. I personally like the 70 the best due to the round lights in the bumper vs. The square
