I had a cat open my bedroom door in the middle of the night while I was asleep. I was the only one home, and she wanted company. She never did it before or after, but she proved that a cat CAN open a door if they want to badly enough.

I don’t know that we get an explanation as to the mechanics of change but yes, it is confirmed that the dramatic glaciation of Coerthas was a result of the calamity. Similar to other areas of aetheric anomalies like Mor Dhona and the Burning Wall in Eastern Thanalan.

My guess is because it takes absolutely forever to get anywhere, with a lot of empty space in between, and because it'd be a strain on the system to have to load that whole map with multiple people doing stuff on it. That's just what I think though.
