Hello, can i put the H30 in H20 flex shaft?
@petracameron4486
@petracameron4486 7 ай бұрын
Hi! To clarify, there is no such thing as an “H20 flex shaft”, the Foredom motor flexshafts come in keytip, slip joint, and square type. You have to check what type of flexshaft you have (the most common one is a key tip style); when you know what type you have, the hand pieces are interchangeable and you will be able to find an H30 that will fit the same shaft as your H20. 👍🏻

Are you not supposed to neutralise the sulphur afterwards?
@petracameron4486
@petracameron4486 10 ай бұрын
Well, we used to think so but wiser people than us have explained that you actually don't need that. As it isn't an acid (like pickling solution for instance) there is nothing to neutralise. You just need to rinse it well in water which will stop the reaction and clean off the solution.

Hi! I have used silver clay successfully using my Gas Hob with a firing mesh and cover. Will I be able to reach the adequate temperature with my hob too? I do not have a torch and I would prefer to avoid buying it. Thanks!
@petracameron4486
@petracameron4486 Жыл бұрын
Afraid not. A gas hob doesn’t reach the same temperature as a torch does, neither can you ensure the entire piece is covered by the flame which increases the risk/amount of firescale. So you have to use a large flame gas torch or a kiln.

If you add a stone can you just let it cool then pickle?
@petracameron4486
@petracameron4486 4 ай бұрын
No, it is the quick crash cooling that makes this work, if you leave it to cool down it will create a thick layer of fire scale. If you want to add a stone I would suggest using a kiln.

Hello, is the mini kiln good for sterling clay?
@Metal-Clay
@Metal-Clay 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would work for most sterling clays, though of course it depends on the firing schedule it needs. Due to its size it can only take a small firing tin so you would be limited as to how much (or what size) you can fire in one go.

Thanks, super helpful. Since this video was uploaded two years ago, maybe any other new sizes apart from these 3 can be considered? I can also see many different Foredom handpieces on your website so not sure which one to buy. I need the size can fit burrs larger than 3mm. Thanks.
@petracameron4486
@petracameron4486 2 жыл бұрын
The H.30 will take up to 4mm. The H.28 has a 3.18mm collet. And for larger burrs, look at H.44 which has optional fixed collets in different sizes up to 6.4mm. Hope that helps!

@Metal-Clay
@Metal-Clay 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sem, sorry we missed your message! Yes, either your torch isn't strong enough, or more likely the flame is too small or you are holding it too far away. Also, fire in a dark room, otherwise it can be hard to tell what colour your silver actually is!

Hi I wanted to ask you about the UltraLite Studio Kiln for sale in the UK. I read that in order for silver clay to be properly fired and achieve the same durability and strength as traditionally made silver items, the temperature needs to reach 900 degrees Celsius and the firing time is 2 hours. Is this kiln up to the job if I purchase the reflective lid? Thank you.

Yes, it is. I put together this video quickly for a customer who wanted to understand the difference in size. As I had it filmed, I thought I might as well put it up here - even though it doesn't go into much detail. It wasn't intended to be a slick sales video, just a little helpful guide. I know the sound isn't great, but if you turn up the volume you should hopefully be able to hear enough of strange accent. We're working on our film and audio skills. 👍🏼

Hi Kate Sutherland, I just came across your comment. So sorry you feel that way. Yes, the sound is rubbish. We're only a small company, and I did this video myself (Petra, the owner of the company). It was one of our first ever "to-camera" videos, put together very quickly in our teaching studio to send to a customer who wanted to understand the difference in size. As I had everything up, I thought I might as well put it up here - even though it doesn't go into much detail and the sound is rubbish. It really wasn't intended to be a slick "professional" sales video, just a little helpful guide. I know the sound isn't great, but if you turn up the volume you should hopefully be able to hear enough of my very strange accent. We're very helpful and we know what we're talking about, but we're still working on our film and audio skills. 👍🏼 And - we have added subtitles which should help!
