I laughed so much while watching it, apart from the musical part, such a good sense of humour you people have.

Perhaps the anecdotal account that says "Thodi Seetharamiah" had 'pledged' his Thodi raga singing to a benefactor that resulted in his not able to sing it anywhere except in the court/premises of the benefactor is a fore runner to all these copyright issues that are coming up now. Probably it would be nice if someone shares any research on this anecdote that they might have.

I am totally flummoxed by the intricate complications that are woven into the copyright laws and how many have a claim on the revenue cake. Probably I can learn Indian classical music more easily than wade thru the maze whose outline (I apprehend) has been touched upon by this really insightful discussion. Thank you for arranging the very informed discussion by domain experts. Probably out of the chaos will emerge clarity, in time.
