you can just select image and press Ctrl + T with node wrapper (built-in) addon, btw, it will create and link img coords and mapping itself. Also doing it to BSDF will create an image too. Better tell me how to use the UDIM tile thing instead of single image. And how to make texture repeat itself the same percent on any size of object, if the scale applied
@3DComparison2 күн бұрын
Node Wrangler is amazing and improves the workflow. UDIM workflow is more powerful, I will address it within a following video!

0:25 That mesh is weird - made of triangles. I'm an amateur in 3D and was told in another tutorial one should avoid triangles. So that's how I do it. Your models are awesome, so what's your opinion? And how long does it take you to make such a model?
@3DComparison26 күн бұрын
Hello! The mesh is made of triangles as it was created in Blender and then imported within Digitized Shape Editor. This is not a CAD model, it is a polygonal model. Check on the web the difference between NURBS and Polygonal modeling. This mesh is mostly as a 3D reference, and all the surfaces can be recreated within CAD (NURBS) within CATIA V5. I have multiple videos regarding this on my channel! Thanks for the comment!

hi again bro, my question is not that much related to this video but I put it here to be the first comment. When I download models from grabcad and try to conduct analyses in abaqus software, I face bad meshes regarding the geometry or bad edges.They are usually created in solidwork. So, the question is that is there any way in solidwork or catia to improve these edges.? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration
@3DComparisonАй бұрын
Hello, usually CAD models that are created within CAD solutions should not have any problems regarding their mesh (bad geometry, bad edges, self-intersection or other elements). But for 3D models that have been obtained using 3D scanning, these kind of problems occur and are quite common. You can use CATIA V5 to clean the mesh, or you can give it a try with Blender since this is free and open source, there are other tools that are intended for this - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5fMgJhrrJaIeqs

There seems to be a similar problem when importing .psk files from Unreal-related stuff (it requires an addon to do).
@3DComparisonАй бұрын
Yes psk file formats are quite old abd have been replaced by fbx and other. But psk are still used within various games as well as some other apps.

@3DComparison yes, it seems that the Unreal engine, even the most modern version, still relies on .psk and .psa files instead of using better alternatives.

@3DComparisonАй бұрын
Glad it helped! Yeah a remesh/retopology usually fixes models and then they can be imported to CAD solutions without any major problems. I am currently considering that Blender + Fusion 360 offer the best workflow.

OMG man, I can not believe it. keep up the good work. I could not get it why we should decimate the model to be able to export to Catia but I will search through the net. thank you very much. If I learn to import any model from Blender to Catia, I would stop learning Catia as it is much easier and fun to work with Blender!
