Hello, I’m a Firefighter in North Wales. A likely reason as to why it took the first fire engine so long to arrive is because contrary to popular belief, fire stations aren’t constantly staffed with firefighters 24/7. Caernarfon is a day crew system with 2 watches and a retained duty system, it’s likely the appliance was off the run for X or Y reason, or that it was the retained who went which means they respond via pager from their home or work to the station, or the crew had to come from a different station because Caernarfon was unavailable or at another incident. Or maybe there were even complications arriving to the incident such as traffic or the pump needed to be refilled with water from a recent incident before mobilising. There’s plenty of reason as to why it can take them awhile to arrive to a call for service unfortunately, optimum and safe response time is always a priority though! Nobody wants to wait 10+ minutes for firefighters to arrive and I’d like to say that generally isn’t the case. We want to get out there and do our jobs to protect life and property just as much as the public need us to do so with professionalism, respect and time sensitivity. I hope that potentially helps clear some questions!

So glad everyone was rescued by your police but very sorry for homeowners' loss of their home. We had a tour of Caernarfon just about one year ago although I'm sure we didn't see this particular house. The fact that we were so recently there made the impact greater because Caenarfon and everyplace we visited in Wales is lovely. Just wish the economy could get better for folks there.

3 to 5 minutes from time of call the West Mids fire service achieve, the bonus of a urban are I suppose. You'd be dead if you was trapped in that house, 8 mins before first appliance and thats from start of recording and not from start of fire. Possibly retained firefighters so it can take upto 5 minutes for them to leave station.

Thanks for watching and commenting. You are absolutely correct, the tenant of the property was upstairs when the fire broke out and made it down the stairs and out of the door only seconds before the landing was consumed by the fire, so yes had she have counting on rescue by the fire service they would have been too late. I will however point out that had the outcome been different I would not have uploaded the video, thankfully everybody was fine, property can be replaced, lives cant.

Why film yourselves trespassing on private property ? This Quarry is owned by a company based in Porthmadog. I would not be surprised if the police cautioned or even charged you for your trespassing on this land. Why have you ignored the private land warnings ? I live here and respect private property. You should do the same.
@GhosthunterWales8 ай бұрын
Many thanks for watching and commenting, to answer your question, we are explorers, it is what we do and we do nothing any different to the many other explorers that post videos, however all of these videos by different explorers have one thing in common, we do NOT break down fences or kick doors in, property is treated with the upmost respect and unless we can just walk in we leave alone, we never force entry and never cause any damage during the process of exploring and showing the public how places are abandonded and left to decay. I must point out that on this particular explore we simply walked right into it, no fences to climb and nothing to suggest we should not be there, no private property signs or warnings of trespassing, and I stress once more that we and other explorers treat places with utter respect and leave them exactly as we found them. Thanks again for watching.

Hi Viv, thank you for explaining more about this fire and filling in some of the gaps. It must have been very intense to actually start melting a freezer! It's a wonder that no was injured, and that everyone apparently got out in time. Is that your daughter Lauren you are talking with in the original video?
@explorationwales2389 Жыл бұрын
Yes Lauren was with me during the filming so probably her. I wish I could have been allowed to film when I went inside, you need to see it to believe the devastation. The fire took hold very quickly, I took my wife to work for 9am, was back home by about 9.08, no sign of fire when I got out of the car, by about 9.13 the place was an inferno.

It is well worth a visit, we had a little trouble finding it but got there after asking a few locals, we found on road parking quite easily. We are considering returning to explore more of the actual trail, plus we are hoping to increase our explores this year. We are due to do Doreatha Quarry, I have high hopes for that.

How come it took the fire brigade so long to arrive and put water on the fire ? I mean it’s 8:24 in the video but the house is already well alight as the video footage begins, so the fire brigade must have been called before the footage starts, which means they took even longer to arrive !

@cwmbc Жыл бұрын
The only local fire stations are volunteers. They take time to get to the station. Then turn out. Theres few fully manned stations located in bigger towns and cities. This isnt new york where 30 engines turn out for an e bike fire. This is the real world.
@throttlegalsmagazineaustra7361 Жыл бұрын
How do you know the fire brigade was called before the footage starts? It's an interesting syndrome: dozens of onlookers all assuming someone else has called the fire brigade when in fact nobody has.

Why had the fire got such a hold and almost burnt itself out before the fire brigade turned up. For the people criticizing the girl laughing it can be a reaction to shock. I'd be more concerned as why it took 7 mins on this video for the fire brigade to arrive.

@@tonyjones9442They're a volunteer brigade. Their on-scene time was very good for a vol brigade. The international standard for a 24/7 fire brigade is 7.7 minutes on scene from the time of call.
