I am so jealous of the relationship between the parents. They are both intellectually gifted strivers who clearly love one another and their children and who still love talking to each other in bed at night.. Both earned a doctorate in psychology. Both are caring community volunteers dedicated to making a difference in their community. Lin, of course, is a genius, and I understand that his sister is a successful businesswoman. On another subject, Lin was an absolutely adorable young boy!

Why do you have to be an ethnic minority, that seems unfair
@name461234 жыл бұрын
Why is it unfair? Minorities have to face a lot more struggles than non-minorities, especially in low-income areas. If it concerns you so much, I would invite you to apply to some other full-tuition scholarships, such as the QuestBridge national College Match.

@name461234 жыл бұрын
Jack Doff If you are considering “special talent networks” to be better than the advantage that non-minorities have just by being white, then I don’t know what to tell you. It has been shown that white people have gone to college at much higher rates than any other minority. We should be encouraging low-income minorities to go to good colleges, especially if they have the smarts to do so. As for socioeconomic status, the Gates Program is only those who are Pell eligible, which basically means for low-income students. That way, the minorities that are more wealthy are not eligible.
@jack.1.4 жыл бұрын
@@name46123 it's ok aslong as they are socioeconomically deprived. Otherwise I'm not convinced minorities have disadvantages today in the west

The whole story is based on a false premise - "you need a Degree." Young people need an education, not a degree. Colleges are on the verge of failing economically because they have become incredibly over-priced. So, where do they go next? Billionaires (Gates dropped out of college) and public funding (taxpayers). The reality is 65% of employed workers in America do not need a degree, the do the same tasks on a daily basis. They follow the instructions or get dismissed - they're not being paid to think, just do. Couple that fact with the current inability for recent graduates to find a job sufficient to pay their tuition and you have a crash coming. In my industry, construction, we train young employees in a trade for 3-6 months (with pay) and they earn more than many college grads. A high school graduate that wants to learn, electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc., can earn $50-$75,000 a year AND they have no loans. Aside from the value of these skilled trades, the reality is that more and more jobs will become repetitive tasks. Therefore, the biggest opportunity for higher-paying jobs will be in "design." Designers will design not only products and facilities, but also processes. The designer class will be about 10% of the workforce, the production class with be 80% of the workforce, and the last 10% will be skilled craftsmen and artists. It's true, 80% will be human robots (with iTunes). So, stop the false promise of a college degree, they're not necessary for the majority of workers.
@sauce13025 жыл бұрын
Yeah well majority workers get barely decent or decent pays. You're silly if you think construction is the epitome of labor when exactly that, the better the degree and education you get the less labor you even do for a much higher guaranteed pay. You could earn six figures sitting down with college education
