I would expect nothing but the best from W&N. Strange

Winaor & Newton, only product that was best (once upon a time) was their Kolinsky brushes. They never were the BEST, on any other product.Now, even their Kolinsky brushes are some of the worst I've seen. For Charcoal pencils, the best are General's. For Graphite drawing pencils, the best are Faber Castell 9000, Pitt graphite matt and graphite Aquarel. For sketching, the best pencil is Kohinoor 5340, loaded with either their 4B, or Russet/Dark Sepia, or charcoal, all in 5,6mm thick leads!that you can sharpen with a common pencil sharpener, for unbelievable performance and versatility!! Mitsubishi Uni and Blackwing pencils, are also good for any use. For mechanical pencils, Pentel Graphgear 500 loaded with Ain Stein HB or 2B lead,is the best mechanical pencil for drawing/sketching or even writing. It's control and precision,is the best compared to any other pencil.Hope this helps.@@mourneswanderer1767

@@greekveteran2715 fabulous reply. I personally swear By Faber-Castell 9000 standard and jumbo. However I like to play around with Derwent products since our visit to their very interesting pencil museum this year. Yes indeed, lots of choice out there. I have just received a very nice tin of Cretacolor monolith woodless graphite pencils HB - 9B. Can't wait to try them.
