Un toucher magnifique de la part des deux pianistes, puissant, ample, mais jamais agressif, une implication totale et de tous les instants, d'immenses dynamiques, un caractère musical très imaginatif, une immense technique, une écoute mutuelle idéale, et des moyens techniques immenses...Autrement dit, un rendu très "russe". Et aussi, une excellente prise de son, et une très belle captation filmique. Pour moi, la meilleure version disponible de cette oeuvre superbe sur KZbin. Bravo, bravo, bravo !

At this tempo, it’s almost a different piece. The fast mm marking has often been characterized as being a caricature, poor Beethoven, but this performance-in 1-gives us a sense of a broader outline of what Ludwig may have been hearing.

Si jeunes et déjà si talentueux ! La transcription pour pianos de ces Danses Symphoniques, outre l'exigence pianistique requise, met en lumière, plus encore que la partition pour orchestre, les apports de la "dernière "manière de RACHMANINOFF qui n'est pas sans évoquer un de ses glorieux cadets...PROKOFIEV ! : rythmes acérés, dissonances, transparence de l'écriture, annoncés quatorze ans plus tôt par le 4e Concerto pour piano. Et pourtant, si "moderne" soit-elle, cette oeuvre est bien le chant du cygne le plus poignant et le plus sincère de ce génie resté fidèle à ses canons musicaux, nostalgique inguérissable de sa Russie lointaine et merveilleux conteur d'un passé révolu : un immense bravo à cet exceptionnel duo, qui a si bien capté la force et la poésie tragique de ce chef d'oeuvre enfin reconnu comme tel. Un regret toutefois, qui ne change rien à mon commentaire : RACHMANINOFF et HOROWITZ avaient proposé à la R.C.A. d'antan, d'enregistrer ces Danses, mais la maison d'édition n'y donna pas de suite, ce qui nous prive d'un témoignage " historique "qui eût comblé les mélomanes...
