Back then all that sound came through my 13 inch B&W Zenith with about a 2-3 inch mono-speaker. I loved every minute of it.

Steve - Purdy Shuffle!!❤. Is there a recording of that?? we were at Keystone on August 11 with Merle. It was a Sunday night in 1974. We sat on stage with Jerry and Billy - were you there? I didn’t see you. What a great gig. I have a bunch pxs-,Jerry- no beard. Thanks for the great content representing Long Island.💯👊

I inspired the first 4 lines of the Song, Steve! It was written right after I met Sandy! Bob was a bit surprised to see I was going out with him! I had no clue who he was & he had a coat on over his patch, for Jerry! You sent him up on MSG Stage to talk to me, my buddy!😮

I was there! 16 yrs old drove my VW beetle from Mass. with my 2 older brothers and 2 cousins, parked at a convenience store in W. G. And walked several miles to get there as traffic was stopped, I have a photo of my beetle parked at the store there.

F yeah! Do you remember the first covert cannabis cups held in the emerald triangle covered in rolling stone mag? I only heard about from my girlfriends uncle in Davenport (CA) because he won it! His strain was as Sierra Cement and Early Girl...id sure like some eygyptian kush seeds here in the Philippines...

We were at that show. Ry Cooder and his great band were amazing. Laguna Seca is a barren, scrub grass, hilly area, a racetrack, nothing like the beautiful Monterey coast; hot in the day, cold at night that time of year. Not everyone stayed or knew about the video.

@BigStevesBackstagePass my pleasure, hey any idea why I was the only person in the whole crowd that night during filming the touch of grey filming whose was blacked out on the video? I was under a red n white umbrella on the front super visible. I was obviously burning a giant doobie would that be why? Side note did you ever know Tom Noddy aka the "bubbleman" who was a friend of wavy gravy that's my uncle. Lastly I met a super rich girl here claimed she owns Jerry's wolf guitar , is that even possible? Anyway dig your show. Thanks

I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us through all the great stories. I have a “taper” friend who was at that run, and was one of the people in the audience for the video (I don’t know if he is shown, but he used to love telling us younger heads that story in the early 90’s)

The Sphere was an experience that words cannot properly describe. Steve, what would Jerry have thought about the Sphere? I honestly got emotional during some of the visuals.

That night was a trip. I was right in front of Phil as the good lord intended & was our custom. The shows were smoking too, ended up at a table next to Garcia backstage first nite as he explained to this kid that “instructions are chicken shit!!”. Can hear him now still 💚🙏🏼💪🏼

🎉Anybody remember a guy i didnt see him but sounded like a 45-55 year old raspy haggard voice dude sounded drunk but completely greased on the fry sauce! Who maybe hadnt been properly greased in a longtime..it was kinda quiet in the greater camp this was in the flats behind the stage part of the grass parkin lot trip....anyways you can her a few peeps walkin thru and voices were down and this guy would wait for somebody to come walking by and he'd jump out it from behind a car or tent it sounded like! Yelling Freeze!!! The people were seriously startled totally freaked heartattack style!!..then the guy would laugh and laugh kneeslappin the whole trip!!... it was somthing else!...let us know😂🎉......

Wow. It's cool to finally put the face to the voice I always hear on SiriusXM, Big Steve. I listen to your show all the time. The TOG video is what got me into the Grateful Dead. I was still just a little kid then, around 7-8 years old, and was really into skulls and skeletons at the time it came out. I loved the video, but loved the song even more. I've been on the bus ever since.

That video n song brought in so many new fans. Even too this day. When I’m running sound I get so many requests from people to try and have our local band play it….alas it’s is a rarity. If you’re ever in Asheville then you have to check out Jerry’s Dead we do it up right. Hope to have our stage rebuilt soon we were wrecked in the Wake of the Flood from Helene but plan to be back better than ever soon!!
