HDMI ARC is different, because the audio signal goes over the HDMI cable rather than an optical cable. I would suggest you make sure the soundbar is connected to the specific ARC port on your TV, because usually it's only one. Also if you want to use ARC, unplug any optical cable, so the soundbar doesn't get confused about which input to use.
