The thing is the guy that was killed didn’t hit the other guy before he killed him. The guys fought with swords and one of them killed the other. If one of them struck the other before he killed then it would be self defense but, that’s not what happened and the one who was killed had the intention to kill him. He didn’t have the intention of waiting.

Revenge is okay as long as you don’t transgress.

It depends on the intentions. If they both intend to kill one another then they will be judged for that.

Surely, non-Muslims don't know that al-ghaib is referring to the unseen. In fact, there are a lot of us Muslims who are nowhere near as knowledgeable as you are. assalamu alaikum. i came across that narration long ago i think in Muslim and in al Bukhari it was. if i'm not mistaken was about 2 muslim brothers raising sword against each other. and some companions during fitnah which occurred during rein of Ali bin Abi Talib radi Allahu anhu rejected to raise sword against other companions and muslims after being ordered to join army for battle, they refused and quoted 1 or 2 hadith from Muhammad alayhi salatu wa sallam and i think it was this narration. and Allah azza wa jal knows best
