I know it’s not improper for us to dance It hardly is a scandal and Ms. Bates has no opinion And though we are related by circumstance For you are not my sister and I’m surely not your brother Though my brother and your sister have 3 children; it’s confusing. Emma, I’m helpless in your grace I see your kindred face when I close my eyes Emma, the dawn breaks with your smile And for just a while I am comforted And if I never hold you If I never touch you If I never have the chance to quite express what I’m most hopeful of Then I will never know love You don’t want me to marry, yet show no sign Of anything but fondness for the friend you’ve known the longest And yes I’m slightly wary to cross that line For what if it upset you; it would sting my pride forever And I don’t know what you’d say or how you’d act; Would it be foolish? Emma, the heart wants what it wants And it haunts me constantly when I’m with you Emma, my soul lies at your feet I’ve been discreet but now I’m overdue And if I never hold you If I never touch you If I never have the chance to quite express what I’m most hopeful of Then I will never know love Will never know joy Will never know what it’s like to stroke your hair Or feel your skin against my skin What is this endless dance we’re in? Emma, I’ve held this back too long Tell me, is it wrong to be in love with you? Emma, the dawn breaks with your smile Maybe for a while, I am comforted And if I never hold you If I never touch you if I never have the chance to quite express what I’m most hopeful of Then I will never know I will never know love ****** I first watched Emma (the musical) at the 2023 Utah Shakespeare Festival. It's now one of my favorite musicals! And this is simply one of the best songs in the production.

Same here! The man who sang this song in that show, Rhett Guter, I’ve known for years. I’m actually in a show he’s directing right now! What a gifted man!

That moment when almost everybody knew what it was from the piano riff alone and was already groovin’!

Wow, Susan Egan really kicks butt on this rendition of this awesome song. I like her passion and energy here! And the band's rendition is top flight too!

Why did the lyrics change ??!?! I own the cd from the 2013 original recording .

They removed the interjections from the other characters so I assume they added the middle section to pad out the song, it's pretty short without the other lines.

I gotta say, Zachary Levi sounds different from his time in First Date. He sounds like this in She Loves Me too

@@disgracedwafer2980 I can't really tell. But maybe better voice coach and pratice?
@disgracedwafer29803 жыл бұрын
In She Loves Me and here, his voice seems to have more friction is the best way i can describe it. I do think that it's his natural voice and maybe he became more comfortable using it after First Date. He sounds incredible either way.

Really want all J.A. musicals except Mansfield Park. Nothing against that, love novel and series on it done in 1983 but don't like opera.

when i die when i die let me lie underneath the ice and snow say no prayers oh light me no candles let me go, let me go, let me go do not cry do not cry rather try to go on as best you know make new friends and loves and forget me let me go, let me go, let me go if you hold on to my memory you will only bring me pain and my loved ones who knew me more than you will relive my death again and again say goodbye say goodbye asking why isn't really (sounds like "a proposal" but I'm unsure) for in time you too will be with me down below, down below, down below so let me go let me go let me go

Beyond, beyond It sounds full of wind and mist, doesn't it It means other things exist, doesn't it Beyond, beyond It says Adam leave your list, doesn't it Father why does my head feel this joy and this dread Since the moment I said Beyond I've got an itching on the tips of my fingers I've got a burning in the back of my brain I've got a hunger burning inside me, cannot be denied I've got a feeling that the Father who made us When He was kindling a pulse in my veins He left a tiny spark of that fire, smoldering inside The spark of creation is flickering within me The spark of creation is blazing in my blood A bit of the fire that lit up the stars and brought life into the mud The first inspiration, the spark of creation I see a mountain and I want to climb it I see a river and I want to leave shore Where there was nothing let there be something Something made by me There's things waiting for me to invent them There's worlds waiting for me to explore I am an echo of the eternal cry of Let there be The spark of creation burning bright within me The spark of creation won't let me rest at all Until I discover or build or uncover, a thing that I can call My celebration of the spark of creation The spark of creation, may it burn forever The spark of creation, I am a keeper of the flame We think all we want is a lifetime of leisure Each perfect day the same, endless vacation Well, that's alright if you're a kind crustacean But when you're born with an imagination Sooner of later you're feeling the fire, getting hotter and higher The spark of creation
