@TheReptileWhisperer
@TheReptileWhisperer Ай бұрын
@@MasonsMonitors The tricolors are very shy and like to watch people while they are hiding in plants or hides. They will come out once it is quiet in the house (nobody walking around). When they think you aren't watching, they will run around all over the walls, swim in water, and dig everywhere. Everyday the cage looks like a tornado hit 😂 Even though they are shy, they will take food from tongs and are not aggressive. Once I have them out holding them, they are pretty calm and easy going. They seem very curious about me and not scared. I will say, other people say theirs are crazy and aggressive. Bites are said to be very bad.

The Enclosure looks so big in the Video. I have a 4x2x4 for a Neonate. Tried Sexing it after I found your Guide but unsure since it’s only 3 Month old.
@TheReptileWhisperer
@TheReptileWhisperer Ай бұрын
At three months old, it would be very difficult to sex unless you used LED sexing. This is hard to do by yourself since the babies tend to not want to be still 😂 I'd wait for it to be 6-9 months old and try to see what it looks like. Males usually have bulging by then.

@TheReptileWhisperer Ай бұрын
They are naturally curious so eventually they will want to check you out. Just stay still and let them jump and crawl on you. Don't ever grab or constrain them because they will get scared and not become friendly. Be gentle with them. Wild ones are a little different though...they are scared in the beginning and can be skittish. Best thing to do is be patient and handfeed them, try to get them to walk on you to get food so they learn to trust you.

There is no information. No one has done it in captivity yet. My plan is to do the same thing I do with tree monitors but on a larger scale, since these are bigger monitors. I figured out how to breed tree monitors around 16 years ago when only a few people in the world had been successful. It was trial and error to see what worked and what didn't. I'm going to do the same thing with the tricolors and figure it out 😊

Sooo pretty. 🥺 I just like green lizards (and snakes) the most when it comes to color. Maybe it's the silly cliche, but I find it snazzier than dark brown or grey. 😁 Is the "shower" an electric pump, or one of these big plastic spray bottles where first pressure is built up by pumping a lever for a while, then water can be sprayed continuously as long as there is pressure? 😁 I had one in use for ferns and some other plants that needed moisture. Less work than a simple spray bottle. 😅
