I used to make hot dog gravy for the kids, and if we didn't have hot dogs or bologna, then it might be white gravy on bread. They still love it.

I think this is close to the recipe. My mother used to use when I was growing up and I’m 70. I’m going to try this exactly cause it’s just exactly how I was going to make it thinking that was the right recipe from mom. Thanks for putting the video on.

I notice the pan you are using. It's a Saladmaster pan. My folks bought a set when I was a kid and I'm sure they were not cheap. Those pans I still use daily and I'm 68 years old. Great pans!

Looks comforting! I like to add a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce. My brother adds a bit of chili flakes for some spice. This is such a versatile dish.

That's how I make my SOS. No onions or garlic or soy sauce. Just salt and pepper. Lots of pepper. Serve on white bread toast. Eat it with eggs any style. Good job Grandma!

Agreed, it can be a very smelly smoky process. My grandmother made it often for us, with the browned flour. She would also add boiled potatoes to it. I Loved to tear up a couple slices of bread into pieces, and serve it over that. It was the Best. I still make it once in a while. You can buy Browned (grilled - farine grille) flour now, in Canada. I have a friend there that ships it to me whenever I need some.
