Patty, was that you at the Laundry Matt in Lake City? I thought it was you but I was not sure. I guess you wondered why I kept staring at you. Why wouldn't you approach me, if you knew me.

I was lucky enough to be at this show 24 years ago or so in NYC - was a grad student there and followed an internet list serve that announced this was happening. Still a huge fan after all of these years. ♥️

I actually think I’m gonna start trying to do Patty Griffin covers because somebody oughta do Patty Griffin covers cause this woman is too amazing. Not to Patty Griffin if I ever do Patty Griffin covers I will absolutely talk about you all night long and all the songs you sing and everything I know about you, and especially the fact that my brother was the first person who told me About you It was like 1999 2000 something like that what you told me he was like this is a musician that reminds me of you and I loved you ever since Sweet Lorraine… it’s hard to believe it’s been 20+ years since then more like 30 actually

I love you, Patty Griffin Griffin!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ my mother speaks English at her best. I think the most wonderful thing a child could give her child a month or would give to her child is singing that means so much. It lasts so long thank you for sharing your mother’s song. I started saying to my daughter when she was born although you’re one of the songs I sang to her this was not one of them still so beautiful so beautiful to hear your voice and think you’re singing the song to your mother.

Sweet Lorraine was the song my younger brother sent to me as soon as he heard you and he said Anna the song reminds me of you. It literally was the year that you publish this song. Patty Griffin, I’ve been following you ever since I actually saved up enough money to travel to Europe the year your album came out and when I came back, my father had actually told me that he thought the only way I could raise money to go to Europe was because I was being a whore I quote. But I didn’t do that , I was catering,as a nanny I worked in cafés. I worked in a jewelry shop. I worked in catering. I worked seven days a week for many months to go to Europe, but my dad couldn’t believe that I could do that and he left me a message on my phone, which was a phone, not a cell phone, and he told me that he thought I was a whore. I’d work so hard. My dad had been so mean for so many years didn’t shock me that he would say something like that, but this song meant a lot to me saying a lot about what I felt like and how I’ve been treated. And my baby brother said you need to know this song you need to know Patty Griffin and that’s how I found you decades ago. I love you, Patty Griffin. I think you’re an amazing songwriter and artist.

Can you guys confirm “We Are Water” isn’t here? Fellow fans please help me out, I’m looking everywhere for her singing that song! Not a cover! My CD that had We are water on it is played out so I can’t hear it anymore. ❤

This song is lifted by the last verse starting "maybe it's alright..." Funny how there's one version without that verse added. It's dark without it. With it, it's, "I don't know. I don't know, but maybe, it's alright." That's God. That's what IS at the end of every road. At the end of time. She is so honest, so humble, so beautiful ❤

She brings truth. Her words...her voice. Watching her, the joy she cannot hide while doing God's work. She brings solace to my grief.

This version is amazing compared to the studio version. Griffin and Pulkingham are totally in the zone. Patty is a goddess poet with an angel voice. She is my church and my solace.

Patty recorded this song when many still considered it to be ‘career suicide’ to explore queer themes. And she did it so boldly. What an amazing artist she is.

Can I just say that the drummer is working overtime and you don’t even realize it. He’s playing a shaker, a snare, kick drum and cymbals. All very quietly, I might add. That’s impressive. I can barely walk and chew gum.

As far as I’m concerned, Patty Griffin is the most amazing songwriter, soulful singer I’ve ever heard that my baby brother told me when he heard her music. I have to have this album. It was her first album I’ve been hooked ever since. I know Patty Griffin has battled cancer in recent years and been through a lot just like us all. But these songs and her early albums, make me cry and feel so deeply because she sings the truth of what it’s like to be human and family and dealing with love.
