Regarding gifts (ethics question) i have worked in UAE for 10years and Yes we do practice code of ethics. You should not receive gifts from patients "ideally". BUT because with an Arabic/Emarati practice or way of living it actually gives them the sense of pride and gratitude to give gifts to their healthcare provider to show appreciation. It is very common that locals would give gifts. Most especially gifts coming from royalty patients. It sends a bit of disrespectful attitude towards royalties to refuse gifts i think.
