James Watt did invent the Steam Engine! Before him just 1,500 Newcomen Atmospheric Pumps and 20,000 Waterwheels. After him, 10,000,000 Steam Engines; Steam Pumps, Millions more Steam Powered Factories, Steamships, and Locomotives etc.etc.etc. A 500 times increase in the whole country's Power Output in 100 years. In other words, an Industrial Revolution!

Just a couple of corrections: -Watt didn't invent the steam engine, but previous steam engines were mostly used as pumps in minery, while Watt's was applied to manufacture and transportation. -Ford didn't invent the assembly line, he just optimized it (competitors such as Oldsmobile also used assembly lines, it's just that theirs had a lot of issues); Ford also proved that the fastest way to reach the leadership in the market is by giving your workers good working conditions, no overtime nor long work hours, and making your own products affordable to them, both by lowering your prices and paying them way above minimum wage.

I'd say there was another revolution. The Wire-less communication revolution. Scotland's James Clerk Maxwell predicted Electromagnetic Waves and where they could be found, Britain ignored them. The German H. Hertz found them, and commented, " All we've done is proved Maxwell right, but I can't see what use they would ever be " Radio, Radar, TV, All the various types of Radio-Astronomy, Satellites, Microwave ovens, Remote control and finally Smart Phones. No doubt there's plenty more I've missed! Unfortunately, Maxwell didn't live long enough to see his prediction come true.
