Guys you're acting like this is some craftsman house with built in features.... Its a 90s mini mcmansion. People thinking these houses have any kind of unique character are wild to me. This house needed these upgrades tbh, and just bc we might not like the colors or w/e doesn't mean they don't know how to paint brick correctly. That shx so obnoxious!!

The worst thing about the brick is that it can't be reversed back to natural brick, so when painted brick goes out of style there's that. The over grouting looks better to me and reduces the maintenance on dusting/cleaning between those stones

Everything you changed is what originally made it stand out and have character. Instead of letting them be an attraction, you forced them to blend in with their surroundings and dulled them. Brick, stone, and most wood should be left alone. They all just melt together now; not a single statement piece, not even the house has its curb appeal anymore. It just looks like every new construction/reno on the market now that no one’s buying. Minimalism doesn’t have to be depressing.

Looks good, but they won't last. Pros probably why they get hate. The grout should hold up, though.

To each their own but the overgrout looks like it was more of a shoddy job than an intentional aesthetics choice
