I have the same rod and reel, except that it's the saltwater edition with a silver 808 and white fishing rod. It's tough enough for ocean fishing.

I got my Zebco boss howg 808 silver combo at Walmart for $20 I'm very happy with it so I got a Ozark trail OTX baitcaster reel $11 for the rod so I can Bass fishing and catfish setup in one nice and strong combo medium heavy power. The rod is perfect for baitcaster to punch though grass.

I have 2 of them combos.1st think I did was remove the reels & replaced with a cheep shimano ix200r reel.dont like 2pies rods but good to keep in truck,never know when your going to come on a nice creek,stream or small pond on the rd. Gave the reels to goodwill.

I found my father-in-law's old 808 cleaning out their house. I cleaned it up and added some bearings do my wife can be surprised and use her dad's reel/rod. . One thing i'd love to do is get a spinning head with 2 pickup pins..this old one has only 1. Im curious if the 888 head would work.

I bought the reel last year. Haven't used it yet. I bought a bunch of Emmrod survival rods and I'm going to see which type of reel works best to cast with them. Gonna try'em all, spinning, casting, Spincast, Underspin... Everything. Just found your channel and subbed. Cheers!

There’s a switch on the reel. Very front of it, towards the bottom. I’ve never been sure of it’s purpose. But many reels have them for some reason. Flip the switch, set your drag with the knob on top. Real easy, no fuss when you understand it. I never had a spinning reel that had the switch. Never even knew they existed until I saw one on my buddy’s. Bought the rod today and actually really like it.

They make a beautiful mount. They are exactly filthy defecating all over. They don’t taste good. We call them sky carp. You’ll eventually regret having them as resident geese. They will eat about all we plant in our gardens
