I had to choose between a GTE from 2022 and GTE 7.5 from 2020. I took the one from 2020, my consumtion is better than your. I drived it for 400km and I had consumtion 3.5 l at 100km. The look and interior your can't compare. The golf 8 is a great car, GTE is fantastic hybrid, but 7.5 is much better than 8 (exterior, interior and consumtion). I am looking forward for 9, but the direction what they took, I will keep my 7.5 for few good years.

This was a good review, I'm thinking of swapping my 7.5 GTI for one of these in the near future.

Hello! Does the car always have 245hp even when the battery dies while you are driving? or you get only the 150hp coming from the 1.4 engine?

It was in the workshop for a month and a half, they changed the gearbox and since then everything has been working fine. The anger is because thousands of defective vehicles have come out of the factory and even knowing it, they continued selling them. If you're not in a hurry, wait for the new version since they announce double the autonomy in electric mode. All the best

In my country , the number of manual gearbox Talisman is just about %10 of the total Talisman "popuilation" !!! Almosty a rarity. Manual boxes are even far less amongst Passat and Insignia.

Really nice review. I just got an 8 GTE after having an 8 1.5, since I started smaller trips. I completely agree with your input, also about the buttons - I have no idea who is changing climate control or browsing radio stations all the time 😅😊

I have had my 2011 convertible JCW for 4 years now and it is a LOT of fun. I managed to pick one up (then 8 years old) with just 17k miles on the clock, and for a VERY good price. A few other factors since then (pandemic, new car availability etc) but it has retained its value very well, even with the 50k miles it has now done. My steering wheel is different, maybe an option at the time, but more sporty, and part suede. My centre display is also different. If my information is correct, this was the first year that the JCW upgrade was factory fitted. Before then, the kit was provided to the dealership, who then did the work. Interestingly mine has, sitting on top of the tacho display, an LED display, which is for optimum gear change, when driving it like it should be driven. Not having a manual I had already been driving it for several months before I worked out what it was, and driving hard enough for the lights to actually activate, by the time you change into third gear, you're well on your way to 70 mph, and with another 3 gears still left to go! To use Jeremy Clarkson's quote, I defy anyone to drive this and not come out with a big smile on their face. Lots of fun motoring and serious performance from a 1.6 turbo, (208-211bhp), more bhp than my X type Jag 2.5 v6 which has 196bhp. There is also a second secret glove box which is quite fun to have also.

What about consumption If i don't charge it? Without charge does it gives you 245hp or less??

Colour and wheels are quite safe

Notice to all. VW Golf 8 GTE bought in February 2023 and has been in the workshop for a month with noise problems in the gearbox. If you are interested in a model like this one, think very well before buying it, you will avoid a lot of problems.

Be aware these cars a thwart with problems go ahead and read up on the forums from owners who are having problems with steering wheel sensors and touchscreens failing its a massive problem and vw don't have the parts leaving owners stranded for months.. do your homework

Hi Jay, great review, I've just purchased a 2018 GTE 😁 My concern is whist driving in electric only mode and when the battery is depleted the petrol engine cuts in at current speed, isn't that harmful to that engine as the oil, etc is still cold?

can you do an update? since now it's been almost 2 years. Or have you switched cars?

Hello. Do you know if it possible to disable the engine sound from the speakers? Who would want that? More noise...?! Do know why there if a difference of 41HP from the lower model (non GTE) since they have the same gasoline powertrain with a 5kw difference in the electric engine? Like this car and as it's part of the GTI range it should have 18" as standard. Disappointing that it's an upgrade. But overall a great car

hey ik ben zelf geïnteresseerd in een a3 etron weet jij nog misschien wat de zuinigheid was van de auto ik zie online namelijk 1/33L ook wel 1.6L/100km. maar in deze video zeg jij dat die niet zo zuinig is als op papier. Ik hoor graag u bericht tegemoet mvg

The Golf looks like a Pocket Car compared to the J GTC OPC and isn‘t that brutal at all 😅

Does it give you the full 255bhp the MK7 only gives 205bhp combined which I think was a mistake.
