This design of sugar cane/bamboo farm is super silly. You’re using 8 observers and 8 pistons when you could be using 1 of each and a row of slime blocks. No difference in efficiency and less chance of the sugar cane not reaching the water stream, also obviously much cheaper, especially now with the oozing potion, slime blocks are basically free

There is absolutely less efficiency with 1 observer per row. eg the sugar cane with the observer is the last one to grow and while waiting for that one you lose a lot of ticks were the other ones would be growing if they were cut just after they grew.
