Good question, and I'd definitely need to be more tech-savvyy to answer that. This mod just essentially disables the drive control. However, like mentioned in the video description, in the original Fabtone the gain setting pretty much gives you either buzz-saw or buzz-saw+, so there's not much loss of control there. Furthermore, if you use this as a boost to an already slightly overdriven tube amp like I do, the volume / low / high -controls provide you with good tools to push your amps front end and shape the distortion.

@@JohanLydman yeah the gain way too much for me. I never use my fab tone since 1997 and kept it under my bed..lol.. Since i was a tubescreamer fan than this idea might works for me. Cheers

Matter of taste, of course. However, the stock version is so heavily mid-scooped that it always tends to get lost in the mix. With the mod, the mids are back, which I personally prefer.
