Lovely photos Graham as always. It does make me sad though to see how much of our green belt land has been eaten up with housing estates. We are so fortunate to have the Tower, moorland and parks though. 👌

I know where you’re coming from and I respect and get it,,, but this scrap pile , from what I see, isn’t too bad, the metal needs recycling and the scrap man isn’t the villain, big capitalism’s persistent greed at all costs is the culprit, the world will be a spherical dust ball one day but humans will eliminate all life way before that

Amazing structure, I would love to see actual photos of this back in the day during construction, was it built’overhand ‘ from the inside or was there a mass of scaffold outside, ???

That was really good Graham. I left Darwen 30 years ago, some looks the same, whilst other parts look so different. A lot of old factories seem to be housing estates now.

Rev Alison will be leading the Darwen Town Remembrance Service with Eucharist, tomorrow morning at 9am at St Peter’s Church in the centre of Darwen, where the Mayor and Civic party, British Legion and Scouts will be worshiping with us, followed by the laying of wreaths at Bold Venture Park Cenotaph and War Memorial at 10:50am. Anyone who wishes to attend will be most welcome, of any faith or none, to remember the fallen. 🙏
