I personally only recommend doing this if you're doing mini twists on stretched hair! If you're working on wet hair, it curls up/tangles much faster and much more. When your hair is stretched, it's much smoother and unravels with ease during the takedown process. I also only braid at the root for the twists in the front for a cleaner look!

My kids have bum length hair. I recently started doing mini twists on my 8 year old daughter 's hair, but she wore cornrows for most of her life. Her hair is 3c/4a and big like yours. My younger daughter has 3b/3c hair. The mini twists don't stay as long for her, so I still give her cornrow styles. I wash their hair twice a week when we go swimming. I use leave in conditioner and castor oil, braid the base and twist. Like you, I follow the less is best approach.

I do henna twice a year. I started with lush henna when I was a KZbinr, about 15 years ago. I used to go to the Soho store in NYC to get it done. When the store stopped offering Henna services, I started doing it myself. I love Henna. I became a cosmetologist a year after I started posting on KZbin, and I still prefer henna for my hair.

What heat protectant did you use for this style? I only use the Revair twice a year, and I use Chi products. Big up Jamaica!

I'm just now coming across this video. Has your hair regimen changed over the years? If so, could you do an update video? Or have you maintained the same routine?

I don't know what is going on with hair and the growth of it, but back in the day we didn't do all of these time consuming processes and had beautiful thick heads of hair. Going back even further in time women just didn't have the time for all of this pumping water from the ground, gathering wood for the wood stove, cooking, washing diapers because no they didn't have Pampers. My goodness. LOL
