@@Newcreature1957 I’ve never camped anywhere where I worried about that. You can turn the handle to keep the glass topper door closed but no lock. Usually lock the truck which locks my tailgate too but that’s it.

That’s probably good for a man but I’d be Leary as a woman sleeping knowing anyone could just open it. But your build is great.

@ yeah that’s always a worry, especially for solo women. One thing you can do is use a vise grip on the inside for a little bit of comfort, lock it on the latches so they can’t be opened. Another thought is someone locking you inside. 🤣

Wish they offered this in the ram 2500 05’. I think it interferes with the inter cooler on the winch plate. Wish it would fit! Or if there was some kind of conversion brackets

That’s slick! I really like that. Looks like it might come in and out too. My issue is I want a setup that’s functional like this but I also need my truck for work. That’s the magic sauce for me

@@colin-me thank you! Yeah I could have it all out in a 20 min- half hour. Comes out in sections pretty easy. I used to remove it regularly to use the truck but got a utility trailer so I can leave it in. 🤣

@@bear4locos I bought a kit for the roof rails. It came with rubber washers and instructions. Used those bolts to attach the cabinets to inside.

Looks a lot like Rail X ranch where we have a summer place close to Tucson, That's cool that you have our dog with you I love it when someonr helps complete the special's friend's life with there lifelong master. Remember the "Rainbow Bridge"poem.. We're going to try Rail X Ranch in Tucson next January in 25th. I'm going to be 82 in January and thank you for the pointers on dog camping in the desert..

Sweet build. Wonder if the bottom drawer could go on the right, Putting the bed lower, being able to sit up straight. I have a raised cap, but have Decked drawers so they cancel out the head room, and make the access shorter too

@@MarkMiller-q5e thanks! Hard to say exactly. I built it in stages but if you’re handy and have the tools you could do it all in a weekend I’d think. A few sheets of plywood, depending on grade $75-100 each. Some hinges, carpet and hardware. I’d guess $500-600. Cheaper if you watched for free wood and were thrifty.

How did you seal it from dust coming in around the tailgate? I’ve never seen it successfully done.

@@warren3665 I used a tailgate seal kit. It did pretty well but not 100%. Some dust still gets in at each corner where topper door meets tailgate. It’s nearly impossible to get it all.
