It's 2024 and i keep going back to this video to hear Ruth Price but am still amazed ar Scott Lafaro's huge and innovative sound. He would only be on this earth for 3 more years. Next stop Bill Evans Trio in 1960,1961 where he would make his masterpiece! His articulate and propulsive runs up and down the bass would influence all future bassists and change the instrument forever! Amazing!!🙏💞🔥

I don't even remember what rabbit hole led me to Dick and Kiz Harp, but I discovered their two albums, gosh, maybe fifteen years ago. Such wonderful music. Thank you for sharing this one on KZbin. Wish there was more!

A wonderful singer I'm just discovering. Today's singers would do well to learn from her mic technique -- she's got a real voice, knows how to project, and the fact that she doesn't eat the mic helps us relate to her as an artist! I've mixed both live recordings and live sound for some of the greatest singers in jazz -- Carmen, Sarah, Tony, Johnny Hartmann, Joe Williams, Bill Henderson -- and none of them had to eat the mic to be heard, or to maintain perfect intonation!

Fascinating footage. Does anyone know exactly when this was recorded? Both Miles Davis and Art Blakey played in Eckstine's band in 1946.

I was his neighbor and he was humble and truly nice. He never let us kids know what he did. Mr. Greene wrote a song that Ray Charles sang. He died at age 55. Gong too soon. His son Jonathan looks just like him.
