I really feel like you're downplaying the heat. And it was still 100 degrees on Halloween the last two years. The winter lasts from late November to March, then it's just hot again. Don't mislead people. Also the light rail is generally not quite safe. Huge problem with homeless and drug activity in and around the light rail stations.

So is the population actually going down? And is it just metro Phoenix, or all the surrounding locations? If I lived in Phoenix and could get the license to build, I put up the biggest shade structure over my home there.

Hello! Thanks for watching my videos about living in Phoenix Arizona! So no, the population is not going down. While many people are moving out of Arizona, more people are moving in. Our population is growing rapidly, though it has slowed down some in the last year or so, but not by much. I am unsure of the population status up north or down south but from what my peers tell me, those areas are still booming. Tucson is more affordable than Phoenix and many people are leaving Phoenix to move to Tucson, it's kinda like our sister city. Up north like Flagstaff and Sedona etc are very expensive, but the weather is cooler and it's really pretty, so many people do like living there as well. Actually, Tucson is cooler than Phoenix as well. :)

I agree completely. I can't get out of here fast enough. It also never fails that your AC absolutely *will* be overworked in the summer and will probably freeze. Good luck with that when it's 120 degrees. Plus all the wildlife here just wants to kill you. Have fun finding -venomous- scorpions in your home. This place sucks.

Hi! I have never heard that about Val Vista Lakes, but I know it's not a swimming lake, as most *neighborhood* lakes out here aren't for swimming, just for boating, fishing and ambiance (not to say people don't swim though, as some do, though I would not). Could be they add a dye to make it look pretty? I would need to research that though. As for Dobson Ranch...😂 just like all older areas, there are quite a few older people that have lived there for a long time and I have heard some silly stories, but nothing like living in downtown or central Phoenix/historic areas would bring! You mentioned competent contractors who can work on homes. What advice do you have for finding a decent contractor?
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024 28 күн бұрын
Hello there! OK so living in Phoenix it is hard to find trustworthy contractors as we have SO many out here that are... not great. You see it on the news all the time you know? They take people's money and run or the house explodes or something. Especially people that have just moved to arizona and are unaware. We have the ROC (registrar of contractors) and that can help a lot as good contractors don't want a hit on their name. So definitely go to the ROC website (roc.az.gov/) and research anyone you hire. BUT, many contractors are in good standing but they DO NOT have the correct license to do the work so they are SUPPOSED to subcontract out to a licensed person. This is where the drama comes in as the sub often hires anyone he can find that is cheap enough to do the work. Those hires are rarely educated on codes and safety etc. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH MANY NEW BUILDS OUT HERE and why we have had so many issues. It is rare the higher ups perform the work. They SHOULD be evaluating their subs work, but that doesn't always happen. It's a trickle down effect. Word of mouth from people you trust is all you can really do other than the ROC. And don't pay in full, EVER, until it's done and pay on a credit card if you can, as debit is harder to recover and cash is never able to recover. Get it all in writing before as well so you have no 'extra' fees full of surprises. READ their contract, too. and be NICE to the workers. They do work very hard in this heat and if you offer water and leave your AC on ask their fav music to play etc they are going to be more grateful and I guarantee you they will produce a better result than someone who is bitchy and rude. LOL GREAT question I hope this helped! :) Thank you for watching! I am grateful.

I have lived here since 1980s....winters are perfect. Summers become tolerable after you get used to heat. At lest heat is dry. But you just stay inside more in the a/c too much. I lived in Dobson Ranch for 5 years. Baseline definitely has traffic, and The HOA is AWFUL. They overstep so bad. Where is the area for us poor people.
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024 Ай бұрын
Hello! Thanks for watching! I feel pretty good with my comment that baseline is very light on traffic, all throughout the east valley, actually. Most main roads that run parallel with a freeway are lighter on traffic, unless there is an accident on the freeway. Then the overflow is a real bummer and I would agree with you. I guess if you compare it to say, Florence or something, then maybe Baseline would seem heavy? But, as far as anywhere else in the city, baseline in the east valley is a delight to me! We all view the world through our own perspectives though, so I value your opinion. I had a roommate from MT in college and even our side roads were too much for her family to drive on, as they thought they were crazy with traffic. But their life perspective was driving on dirt roads next to tractors, so Phoenix was a culture shock. It's good to have different opinions on things. That's what makes life so good! I hope your perspective that baseline is heavy helps someone realize they should always do their own research and others can only be their guides. :) Dobson Ranch HOA is one of THE LOWEST in the state for what you receive! At $50/month you get multiple community pools, multiple gorgeous lakes with walking paths, splash pads, fishing, playgrounds etc! Recently they have had turmoil, but it's the first time in decades that has happened, and it's all staff. I've never had someone tell me they loved their HOA. If you know of one, please share! I'll add it to my list for favorite buyer communities. As far as "poor" people communities, again, we view life through a different lens so you would need to define what you're looking for. I once had two sales guy at my house. On my Ring camera I heard one ask the other, "What is that?" pointing to a statue my husband loves on the front porch, the other sales rep said, "I don't know. Probably something rich people have." At that time, a few years ago, our house was worth about $300,000. Far from "rich", in my opinion. But I NEVER FORGOT that video clip. Perspective is everything. :) Thanks for watching!

Hi! It's an old rule! It came to be in the late 1970's and when I went to ASU (200-2005) it was strictly enforced, but people were fighting it all the time. My good guy friends were kicked out of their rental home after an enforcement agent turned them in and the landlord was fined. So silly. It never was changed though. City residents don't want Tempe to turn into more of a party school, so they feel limiting large groups of young adults from living together helps that. That is why ASU only has dorms for greek life. Replicates apartment living. They had frat houses back in my day, but those were bulldozed shortly after I graduated. Not sure how those were ever allowed with the rule in place. Private stipulations perhaps. Thanks for watching! :)

LOL Sororities never had houses, only old dorms, now they have custom built dorms that were built in the early 2000's. Greek Life isn't as popular at ASU as it is at UofA. In 2002 ASU was voted top party school in the nation, but then crow took over and tried to tone it down. He did succeed, but college kids still partied/party. I think ASU still ranks as a top party school even with all the restrictions. That being said, it is getting better, but it does need an overhaul. We need to respect our veterans more and the VA needs to step up and PAY for more so ALL veterans can get into homes that are clean, kept and at affordable prices. The new home buyer commission rule is going to be awful for veterans trying to purchase a home. The VA did come out and remove a restriction for veteran buyers, but they did not make it any easier. They actually have now made it HARDER for a veteran to afford a home. I am no longer involved in politics but that would be one of the first things I would try to help change.

Hello! Thank you for watching! I am happy to hear you are very happy. :) Is it over 80 degrees up in Green Bay already you mean? It just hit 100 out here in Phoenix. Living here certainly brings warm days but sunshine and pools make me happy. LOL And cats and dogs, too!

They look Great! But how is the rain since Arizona has Monsoons and those open decks can get water 💦 damage and for someone like I have toxic mold illness and severe water PTSD cuz it hurt me nearly killed me I was saved on the 11th hour. So although looks amazing the last one… water damage safety is my #1 top of my list in thinking about a home… above all else otherwise I cannot enjoy a home … unless I know beyond any doubt no water intrusion style home is needed … thx for sharing! I’m adhd very highly… so cleaning water is not my specialty … but I love water … go figure… I won’t do anything connected to another persons house not everyone I’ve learned the hard way have good water habits… amd can infect others unknowingly… so nothing styled wrong..l at least for me ❤

Hello! Thank you for watching my video about best places to live in Phoenix, AZ! I always heavily suggest getting a home inspection during the home buying process. You can also hire a specialty company to test for mold in addition to your home inspection. This way you'll be knowledgeable before you move into/or purchase a home. Our monsoons do bring sudden rain but it's rare that homes flood from a storm out here. Unless, perhaps, the property has a roof leak or extreme deferred maintenance. More commonly, a home will have water damage from a burst pipe etc. I'm sorry to hear you have toxic. mold illness! That sounds awful! Wishing you a healthy and happy recovery. 🙏

The bus systems in Phoenix are fantastic, but the line rail has some room for improvement. It's neat and all, but it needs more lines! 😂

Hello! Thank you for watching my video on the pros and cons of living in Phoenix, Arizona! I agree with you fully! LOL Our bus lines do run pretty well but yes, the lightrail is a sour point for many. Hopefully they can clean it up and extend it to where more people can utilize it. We definitely need it!

@@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024 Yep, you got that right. I mean, at least we have another one opening in south Phoenix next year, but Valley Metro is still about 20 years behind where they should be. Right now, I don’t think the light rail is going to be a truly useful regional transportation network any time soon, but it is really effective at densifying development near the corridors, which results in a ton of housing being built closer to the city center where it doesn’t create as much sprawl/traffic. I think that is mostly valley metro’s goal for the short term future, they would have to invest in MUCH faster transit for it to really be useful for the outskirts.

You are so right!! Beautifully said! They are extending the street car as well so it'll help connect MCC and Banner in Mesa to ASU in Tempe. That should help with some congestion as many apartments and condos run along those lines.

I would add that Arizona is a "right to work" state, which means extreme, extreme low wages. I would add that friends of mine who still live their say the traffic is terrible compared to past, like traffic has become insane. Finally, I'd add that summers there was rough. Recall it got so hot recently that the Phx airport closed because it was too hot for the airplanes to take off / land.

Unless you’re in SoCal, the weather isn’t perfect. Tired of people complaining about 3 months of heat while living in the Midwest dealing with 6 months of cold weather.
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024
@LivingInPhoenixArizona2024 4 ай бұрын
Hi! You mention many good things for sure! The "right to work" can go both ways though. It does help small businesses fire terrible employees and it also helps truly magnificent employees gain larger pay raises. So I think that depends on which side you are on. Traffic, to me, is the same as always. We are a growing city so more people = more traffic but we are by far one of the best in the nation with infrastructure, so it's not really that bad. Our traffic is SO HEAVENLY compared to LA, Chicago etc. 😂 you know? Summers are rough every year. I did mention that in the video. :) Every year planes have a few days where they can't take off or land as the heat makes the air too thin. I DO believe we are hotter than the 80's and 90's for sure though. But it was also 122 degrees in 1990 here. I think I still have a t-shirt that says "I survived 122!" 😂 I mention the planes and the heat in my summer survival video. It's definitely crazy and you make a good point! Thanks for watching!
